at least that's he's getting a hip. Read the story below about Mr. Stanley and Mick Jagger NOT participating at the United We Stand concerts.

MICK JAGGER AND PAUL STANLEY WON'T TAKE PART IN BENEFIT SHOW
(Undated-AP) -- Mick Jagger and Paul Stanley are out of this weekend's benefit concert in Washington D-C. U-S-A Today says a spokesman for Jagger says the singer never committed to the event and any announcement by organizers was premature. Stanley has to have hip surgery. Proceeds from the all-star concert will benefit the American Red Cross Liberty Relief Fund, the Salvation Army Relief Fund and the Pentagon Relief Fund.

Poor Paul...guess he doesn't want to have to utilze one of those KISS KOFFINS yet. After all, both he and Gene are about to rape the public again with the upcoming much-ballyhooed KISS boxsets coming out.

Looking forward to 'Kiss(C) Karvings' in which the true fan can buy a small piece of Pauly boys hipbone, immaculately preserved in Genes own drool, and lovingly presented in a genuine glass bottle.

I heard that KISS (or at least Paul and Gene) had committed to this. I wonder if that's true, because if so, how could Paul's hip have gotten so bad that one week he was able to commit to the gig, and a week later he's got to pull out. They would have looked a lot better by not committing to the show in the first place.

And I see that the EVH stuff isn't going to be on the KISS boxset.

ROFLMAO! That was classic. If Gene reads this, it'll probably happen. Good one, Goo.

    OK...here's the rub.

The above pic illustrates the box set version which will set you back about $180+.

For almost $100 less, you can skip the geetar case and just get the cd's and book...which makes me wonder...is that book just a rehashed albeit abridged version of "Kisstory"?

Glenn, are you gonna pick this up? I'm waiting for Goo's idea of "hip shards" to place on my coffee table...right along side Ed's!

Well, I guess so, but then you'd have to sand blast the KISS(c) logo off it.

I love the "hip fragment in Gene's drool" idea. You know loves it too!

Has anyone dared spend the money to read his new book?

I only own a handful of KISS albums, and not a single KISS bootleg, so that's swaying me towards picking it up. I'd have bought it for sure if the EVH stuff was on there.

Put me down for 'maybe', how's that?

I have been a BIG fan of KISS since the 70s(my interest dwindled when the makeup came off) but I've always loved em. I don't have any problem with them trying to make $$$ cuz who here wouldn't do the same thing if they were in those 7 inch leather heels? LUCKILY I FINALLY got the chance to relive my youth and see them when the reunion came to town (2wice). I'l buy the set of course I'm gonna have to save for it but I'm sure it will be packed full of good stuff. 180 is A LOT of $$$ though so it better be "packed".

As far as I can see, the only difference in the deluxe version is that it comes in the case shown above. Although I did hear that the book in the regular version is paperback, but hardcover in the deluxe set. Amazon.com shows the regular version as being $71 and the deluxe version as being $176. That's a pretty big price difference for just a case and a different cover on the booklet.

Here's the track listing, which is the same in both versions

    Disc: 1
    1. Strutter (demo)
    2. Deuce (demo)

That's the problem with the ol' box sets - that $70 is a heavy hit on the ol' household budget - but I'd really like to have that. I guess I could get it on the Best Buy card and take 3 months to pay it off! But I'd probably have to hide it from the wife for a few years!

Starting to sound like another 'Star Wars Trilogy' Release...and now we have improved sound with new packaging...now we have improved picture and even better sound....oh now we have 'the special edition'...and now we have the DVD yadda yadda yadda...all Marketing pkloys to rip off the consumer! Hope Van Halen never fllows KISS don the path of raping fans pocketbooks for a buck. I used to likle KISS, then years ago, when 'Kisstory' came out Gene Simmons said 'no we won't do a make-up tour because it would just be for money'. What a con artist!
