I don't know about you folks, but when I start talking about Van Halen, my wife gets this seriously glazed look in her eyes.

Me: "hey, looks like Dave is back in VH"
    Her: "whatever"

Anybody else have this problem. Man, how cool would it be to have a spouse who loved VH as much as me? I love her, but it wouldn't kill her to be a little more like janevh.

If Jane is married she has got the luckiest husband in the world! Think about it. A woman as obsessed with Halen as much as I am! The only one I've ever met and I've never met her only exchanged email.

I am gonna teach my daughter right though!

My wife will ask some techy guitar question about Ed/recording/sound waves ect, and after 5 minutes or so, she politely informs me that she lost me at phygian

My girlfreinds pretty good about it, she digs some songs, but not others.. If shes in the right frame of mind she will let me ramble on for a bit about the soap operas.

The other night I put a new bootleg I received into my PC and played the opening of 'Mean Streets'.. 'cool..' I said and proceeded to explain (roughly) how Ed does it.. The response I got was 'Yeh but it's just NOISE!'.. grrrr

Not to mention when I'm watching videos and she says 'You sure Dave isn't some big poof??' LOL

    Damn, I'll train her yet

Dudes, just play Loves Walks In and your women will think Van Halen is allright. Then slowly expose 'em to the better stuff.

My Fiance is a HUGE fan of Rock Music but is a little more particular when it comes to Van Halen. She thinks Eddie is the greatest guitarist and Sammy was their best singer. She HATES David Lee Roth and thinks the reunion is overated with Dave. She swears he is a "closet queen." Her favorite song is "Panama." That is as much VH I can get out of her. She can really take them or leave them.

Is it me, or is there a HUGE amount of homophobia on this board? I keep seeing the fact that someone is gay, or that someone might be gay, used as an insult. What gives?

    To combine lyrics:

"...she up and left, and I almost died"

"...when I need somthing to sooth my soul, I listen to too much rock and roll..."

Sweet William - I hear ya man, it's kinda funny that there are some people who still believe calling someone homosexual is some kind of insult.

As far as Van Halen and my fiancee, I have converted her. When we met 5 years ago, her impression of the band was "Jump" and "Panama" which still believes is the same song?? Anyways, she has become much more appreciative of their music over the years, went with me to see them live in '98 and we had a great time. She is much more partial to the "Diamond" Dave era, and "In A Simple Rhyme" is probably her favorite VH tune. I talk about VH all the time, she plays along rather well, even when I am telling her crap she could care less about, like Eddie's technique, etc. She's a good sport, and she likes to give me a hard time about VH, but deep down I know she digs 'em, she thinks Eddie's an amazing player.

Now I have to go, as she's yelling at me to get off the damn Van Halen page on a rare day that I took off from work.

I cant speak for anyone else but when my girl reffers to Dave as 'a big poof' it's only really a running joke.. My standard answer is to shrug my shoulders and say 'probably'. I dunno, i figured homophobia was something altogether different and more damaging, or is it so important to be 'politcally correct' that a person cant even have a harmless joke about the subject without the word 'homophobe' springing up?

Not meaning to have a shot, but sometimes I feel people get overtly sensitive about the subject

My Mrs. is on my side when it comes to VH
The best part is she likes the "edgier tunes " like Hang 'Em High, I'm the One and Light up the Sky. We are both so-so with the Sammy Valentine tunes.

My fiance'....truth is she is about as sick of VH as one person can be. I play them constantly...always...well...mostly Dave, and she prefers Sammy, or no Van Halen. I give here at least two pertinant facts about the band a day. To her, I tell her, "Okay, here's the Van Halen trivia for the day." Now, I get the bit eye roll. Hell, I try to talk about Ed the family fan just to talk about the band, and a topic she wants to talk about...doesn't work though. I can't even get her to commit to going to the Dave/VH show...although she jumped at the chance to see Sammy. As a matter of fact, she went at 6:00 A.M. to wait for tickets because I had to work. I did take here to the VH III show, and she hated it...except for Ed's playing. Oh well, there is still time to change her....she will believe....

Oh yeah...she did decide to play "Hot For Teacher" while we are being introduced at our reception. Wait'll she sees my DJ's set list for the reception....might be the shortest marriage ever.

Hey Eddie...want to play a wedding?
