Tonight's show was my 8th or 9th. Slims, with a SRO capacity of about 450 and a mezzanine capacity of about 50, was about 95% full. I had a very bad day today, and to that end I ended up missing the first half-hour or so of the show. Here's what I caught (in sequence):

- "I Love The Night" (Spectres)
- "Tattoo Vampire" (Agents Of Fortune)
- "Shooting Shark" (Revolution By Night)
- "Divine Wind" (Cultosaurus Erectus)
- "Cities On Flame With Rock And Roll" (1st Album)
- "Burnin' For You" (Fire Of Unknown Origin)
- "Godzilla" w/bass-drum solos (Spectres)
- "Don't Fear The Reaper" (Agents Of Fortune)

- "Black Blade" (Cultosaurus Erectus)
- "Perfect Water" (Club Ninja)
- "Astronomy" (Secret Treaties)

As a looong-time fan of the band I was very happy to get 3 songs I'd never seen live before. Unfortunately, the usually solid Buck Dharma was off his game a bit tonight. He was off on several songs, and only redeemed himself at the very end of the night, stretching out nicely at the end of "Astronomy" in a fashion I hadn't seen in previous live airings.

The memorable moment of the night was during "Reaper". Buck jumped straight from the end of the first chorus into the beginning of the solo, then after a couple seconds realized the rest of the band was correctly going into verse 2. The whole room erupted with a huge "Whoa!"-type noise. The look on his face was priceless, and his face was flush with embarassment thru the rest of the tune, including the solo. At the end of the song he singled out someone near the front of the stage and mouthed "I messed up".

The rest of the band was fine (even fatass Rondinelli), but Buck was off tonite...

No matter. I'll be at Slims again for next year's show.

The Real Deal

PS: Axx, if you catch this post, let me know what they play tomorrow night in Santa Cruz. Thx in advance...
The Real Deal does old VH better than any other band in the SF Bay Area. Hearing is believing...

Dude, I love BOC. I was fortunate to see them back about a decade ago in this little club in Houston called Hurricane Alley. They were totally awesome
