Has anyone noticed a serious drop in bass volume at the beginning of the song "So this is Love?" on the "Fair Warning" CD? The bass line starts off strong and then drastically drops off. Why is that? Surely when the band heard this during the final mixing of the record. Just wondering if anyone else noticed and thinks it's strange?

I've noticed it and is has always annoyed me. I'm not sure what happened to cause this, though.

Since were on the subject of "So This is Love" has anyone ever noticed that VH ripped off the bass/drum intro from Grand Funk Railroads "Footstompin Music"?

I think I had read somewhere about the bass volume needed to be adjusted and it was a good take for the song and lowered at the console. Aside from that flub, it's an awesome song!

I think it sounds cool. It gives the song that much more character.

So this is Love? The version that kicks ass is on the U.S. Festival Boot!

    Great song!

If I remember correctly, Ed wrote several solos for this tune but never could decide on the one to use. The finished solo is actaully an amalgam of parts of all the solos.

The bass drop was always noticeable, but I thought it gave the song some character.

Ed and the boys need to get back to the "one take" sound they once had.

    What a great live song

Yeah, if Tom Sholz had been producing, they'd still be working on that song.

I also think it is intentional. You can't miss it. It is pretty cool. I think it started as a mistake in the mix, and they decided to leave it in there for attitude and raw feel, which is what VH was all about in the old days. Correct me if I am wrong, but the drum level drops too.

I always thought it was intentional, giving the song a kinda jazzy, blues feel. You hear that a lot in those types of songs, where the piano or bass takes a serious cut just before the vocal come in
