have had more than one lead singer? Meaning someone "left" and someone "took" over.

And of course, besides VH.

For example, The Beatles don't count, McCartney & Lennon were "part" of the group and "shared" singing duties.

Off the top of my head Genesis comes to mind.

Others?

There was also Deep Purple with David Covedale replacing Ian Gillan for three albums. Gillan eventually returned to the band years later.

Motley Crue replaced Vince Neil with John Corabi for one failed album.

Black Sabbath had Ronnie James Dio replace Ozzy as well.

James Labrie wasn't the original singer in Dream Theater.
They made their debut album with another singer.

I think the point was (and I could be wrong) who has been successful with both (or more) singers. Sabbath is border line with Dio. Jury's still out on Journey. Genesis and AC/DC are the only ones that come to mind other than VH as far as success. The others listed you can't really call successful.

I was thinking 10,000 Maniacs, but they really haven't been too successful without Natalie Merchant.

Oh, yeah, Chicago. Successful before, and with, Peter Cetera.

Iron Maiden
Bruce didn't join until the 3rd album.

Deep Purple
Recorded three albums with Rod Evans behind the mic before Gillan took over.

Black Sabbath
Had a couple of hit albums with Dio after Ozzy's departure.

Rainbow
Went more commercial after Dio quit. But had a hit album and two top 10 singles with Graham Bonnet. Also 3 more hit albums with Joe Lynn Turner. Whether you like it or not.

Faith No More.

They didn't get popular until Mike Patton joined the band. They had multiple singers before him (including Courtney Love! )

And thank GOD they found James LaBrie, the other guy (Charlie Dominici) was annoying as hell.

I thought the question pertained to groups who had a vocalist leave to be replaced by another member of the band. Phil Collins was Genesis' drummer and then became lead vocalist after Peter Gabriel left.
