For me, it would be ZZ Top. I seen those guys about a year and a half ago on their XXX Tour. Talk about a major let down. It was the first time I had ever seen them, and believe me, it will be the last time too. They only played for about an hour, an they only did songs from '83 and before. Don't get me wrong, I like their old stuff, but I thought they would have at least done songs like "What's up with that" or "Stages," but they didn't. They did nothing from Afterburner, Recycler, or Antennae. It was kind of wierd. It was like they were embarrased of their newer stuff or something. It definitely wasn't worth 40 bucks!

I've seen quite a few band shows actually but I think the half-assed punk rock concert with Goldfinger, Kara's Flowers, Save Ferris and some local band of poseurs I saw back in 1997 was definitely the worst show I've ever seen. It was the most pathetic thing I've ever witnessed. The sound was so loud and uncontrolled that my ears rang for almost 5 days after this crappy concert. AWEFUL!

Interesting/weird experience hammered65 - I saw them on the Antenna tour and they played for damn near two hours - a mix of songs from their whole career and they played them well.
I can't say that I've ever been to a bad - I've never really gone to a lot of concerts so just the fact that I'm seeing one of my favourite bands usually makes it a special night. Even the bands I've gone to see that I wasn't a fan of at the time (YES, Peter Gabriel) I enjoyed the shows. I have seen some opening acts I didn't care for (The Cult, The Pixies, Marry Me Jane, Chris Whitley, Cry Of Love) and some that didn't sound good (the worst one being Aerosmith/Ted Nugent in 1986 - couldn't understand a single word either singer said all night or anything anyone else said the ride home from Worcester!)

Strange, I saw goldfinger and they were pretty good.

I'm supporting Save Ferris in September so I HOPE they suck, 'cos it'll make me look better!

As for sucky shows, I think I've been pretty lucky with my choices.

Actually, no. Caught fuckin' OASIS at Glastonbury and ran for the hills. Sucked butt.

Gotta chime in with all the ZZ Top concert goers. I saw them on the Afterburner tour in the late 80's in Peoria. They were having sound problems and didn't get started until an hour after the opening band ended (The Call, I think--so so). Then they only played for about 50 minutes--what a rip off! THEY had problems and we get robbed of an hour's worth of music.

I saw the Cult twice as a warm up act and they weren't very good. I've also seen them 4 times as headliners (including last week) and they are one of the best live acts I've ever seen.

The very worst band I ever saw was Steve Vai opening for Aerosmith. It was horrible - he got booed off stage the next night from what I heard. Most disappointing headliner was Gary Moore in the mid 80s - complete boring wankfest from Mr "I'm too talented to play hard rock" Moore.

Thats odd with the XX show - I saw it here in Sydney and it was great, good varied setlist and they seemed to be having fun.

Except Frank Beard. He just kinda walked off both at the end of the main show and at the end of the encore without so much as raising an eyebrow, just got up and left.

Musta been beard envy or something lol

Beard did the same thing at the show I went to. At the end of their set, Billy G. and Dusty Hill half-assed waved to the crowd, while Beard got up from behind the drums and walked off the stage without even looking at the audience, let alone wave to us. I was really pumped up to see these guys too. It was a big time let down.

The worst one for me was Stryper in 1987

My cousin was a huge Christian Rock fan & he had an extra ticket for this show (big surprise), what a terrible show . The only good thing about it, was all the chicks.

Motley Crue...1998. Generation Swine tour.

Man, this one was HORRIBLE!! The Crue sounded great but the "side shows" that went on really made it a bad night. This was when they were showing suicides on video tape during songs...Nikki's bass solo that was a bunch of noise and some "ode" to his dad where he was walking thru a graveyard...scenes of rape and pillage before the show... VERY depressing stuff.

Stephen Pearcy (solo tour last year) also sucked in a big way! Man, this loser is cussing out the 86 people that even bothered to show up at this bar for even coming out. I'm thinking "hey asswipe...be grateful ANYONE even showed up at all!" He all but refused to play any Ratt songs, insisted on playing Vertex or whatever band he thinks he's doing now, and was just an insulting ass. Pearcy sucks...check out metal sludge for more laughs about this soon to be grocery cart attendant.
