LED ZEPPELIN To Issue Live DVD/CD Before Spring - Oct. 14, 2002

LED ZEPPELIN will be issuing an ambitious DVD/CD package, tentatively titled Led Zeppelin: The Ultimate Collection, sometime before Spring 2003 through Atlantic Records, according to Guitar World magazine.

The DVD set will include concert footage, interviews and remastered performances in one incredible set. Among the goodies available will be a film of the band's legendary 1970 Royal Albert Hall concert mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound, as well as a 1975 Earl's Court show. Rare Bootlegs and early TV appearances will round out the anthology. A two-CD set, which may appear as early as the Thanksgiving, is also in the works, and will feature live music either in 5.1 Surround or two-channel stereo.

Led Zeppelin to tour again

By THOMAS WHITAKER
Showbiz Reporter

LEGENDARY rockers Led Zeppelin are set to re-group after 22 years for a money-spinning stadium tour of America.

The three surviving members — singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones — plan to hit the road next summer.

The trio hope to pocket £6.4million for the shows.

Robert, 54, Jimmy, 58, and 56-year-old John Paul met two weeks ago at the offices of their management firm Trinifold.

They buried the hatchet over Page and Plant’s 1990s tour, which John Paul only learned about from a newspaper.

A band insider said last night: “If the right offer comes up they will do it.”

Trinifold added: “Jimmy is itching to do something, but there is nothing firm yet.”

Zeppelin split in 1980 after a booze binge killed drummer John Bonham.

His son Jason is set to play drums on the tour.

The band, famed for songs like Stairway to Heaven and Whole Lotta Love, are second only to the Beatles in worldwide album sales.

They still hold records for crowds at their 1970s concerts.

A music industry insider said: “They had so many hits that I am sure the reunion would be a major success.”

I pray to God that this is true. There's just so much more potential between the three of them for new music. John Paul Jones is criminally underrated.

The question is not, "Does love exist?"
But when she leaves, where she goes?
I got the feelin' she don't know either

Awesome!!! I would love to see these guys in concert. With Jason on the drums, they definitely will be playing the songs they we they were first recorded. None of that Middle East-remakes of the classics that Page and Plant did that one time.

This is really incredible news. I had thought Plant would never tour under the name Led Zeppelin without Bonham. Perhaps he believes after 22 years it would be OK. The idea of new DVD with concert footage is great. It's about time they gave us something other than The Song Remains the Same, which I personally was not very impressed with and I don't think they were impressed with either. I went to a Zepfest some years ago and got some great rare bootleg material. There's a Robert Plant VHS compilation that he's shopping in a mall in England and the Police Benevolent association had a RocknRoll band playing in the mall for charity and they asked Plant to come up and do some songs with them and he did. He did a Police "every Breath you take" Brian Adams, "Run to you" and some others They had to write the lyrics down but he did a good job with no rehearsal. They finished with Zep's RocknRoll. Great stuff. Anyway, Zep's my all time favorite and I hope this is true. Anyone having any follow-up information please post a URL or details.

Wow... Can't wait for this!!!
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

The CD/DVD sounds cool, but I'm skeptical about a tour. I doubt very much that Plant's voice is up to the task.
"There's a Japanese term called wabi-sabi, not wasabi, but wabi-sabi. It means an appreciation for the imperfect, the less than precision. The cowboy boots that you never polish because it's bad luck. That is completely wabi-sabi. Van Halen is that." - DLR 2002<br /><br />"Look! I can see their parachutes! Why did they use a picture of Gene Wilder in that article? Oh, I'm sorry that really is Robert Plant pictured. My fault.

He has aged some hasn't he, I give him credit for not doing the DLR thing though. Dave does look ridiculous in those 110% polyester suites. I wonder if Plant can pull off the Zep vocals? I thought he sounded as good as he ever did in the last 5 years on the VH-1 special. To clearify, that's from the 1998 Page/Plant Tour till now. Not the early seventies. He did a real good job on the last Page/Plant tour.I saw them at the MCI center in D.C. I very much enjoyed it.
