Yo Loons! Speaking of Robert Johnson, do you have his boxed set "The complete recordings?" Man that is some great stuff. You can almost feel like you're down in some "juke joint" runnin' and gunnin' with Robert himself. His vocals are haunting to say the least. I'm sure I'm preachin' to the choir, but just thought I'd ask in case you didn't own it. Out.

I have that Robert Johnson box set and I'd definitely put my nickel on T5's description. It's awesome to hear that recording knowing the age and the history of it.

So to the original question, I'd have to bet the farm on RJ. Now, I'm gonna go dust my broom.

I'd have to say Cream live, but would like to also give some consideration to Eddie's damn near perfect rendition on the Shinjku '78 bootleg that he played for Lisa Robinson.

"...Don Law considered himself responsible for Johnson, found him room in a boarding house and told him to get some sleep so he would be ready to begin recording at ten the following morning. Law then joined his wife and some friends for dinner at the Gunter Hotel. He had scarcely begun dinner when he was summoned to the phone. A policeman was calling from the city jail. Johnson had been picked up on a vagrancy charge. Law rushed down to the jail, found Johnson beaten up,his guitar smashed;the cops had not only picked him up but worked him over. With some difficulty,Law managed to get Johnson freed in his custody, whisked him back to the boarding house, gave him 45 cents for breakfast, and told him to stay in the house and not go out for the rest of the evening. Law returned to the hotel, only to be called to the phone again. Fearing the worst,Law asked,"What's the matter now?" Johnson replied,"I'm lonesome." Puzzled,Law said,"Your lonesome? What do you mean your lonesome?"
Johnson replied,"I'm lonesome and there's a lady here. She wants fifty cents and I lacks a nickel..."

I love the Cream versions I've heard and I love the VH versions Live that I have heard, but I'm going with the original as my favorite. Robert Johnson---A man ahead of his time and a legend.

I have that same Box Set Glenn. It is amazing.
