Hey Guys
What do you think about Yngwie Malmsteen ?
I really like is style of playing
He have make so cool classic song like Far Beyond the sun & Black Star
I've just receive is new Cd " attack " with is autograph on it and I thinks it's a pretty good album
I know that some song sound like older song but ... it's a good album
EVH: Definitely. Playing guitar was my sanctuary. It was the one place I could go to if I got fucked around by a girlfriend, or anyone else, for that matter. It still is. If thereís something I canít deal with, I can just spend hours playing. Itís a God-given gift Ė I certainly donít know where the ideas come from. Theyíre obviously given to you, and you have to keep your fingers moving and your mind quiet. I try my best to not think about thinking, so I can just let it flow. Because when I start thinking, forget it. <br />So....why he isn't playing guitar ? ? ?

The only thing I like about Malmsteen is the recording of him going off on some woman on an airplane where he's gonna unleash his fookin fury cuz she pored a drink on him. If ya haven't heard it yet it's worth huntin down on the net. Other than that, no thanks Yngwie...

Technically dazzling, but overall
way too dungeons & dragons for
my taste.
He's always kinda reminded me
of some kinda idiot savant, like that
retarded kid you knew in school who
could lift a car off the ground or
maybe dustin Hoffman
in Rain Man...

Oops, I think I've unleashed a
fucking fury!

In addition to being a very fast guitar player, I heard he can eat an entire McDonalds #4 W/Cheese in less then 45 seconds!

It's right here: http://www.streameasy.com/media/stre...ediafileid=485.

"You've unleashed the fooking fury!" What a classic line. I wish I'd a thought of that first. It's the perfect line for first dates or when the boss gets on your nerves.

I like Yngwie, but I've found a player I never knew about, by the name of Tony MacAlpine who has the speed of Yngwie and the song writing ablity of Satch, but I like his(MacAlpine's) songwriting better. It just seems like Yngwie never really had all that much of song writing ablity, he just played fast to be fast, I dont' get that same vibe from MacAlpine, he seems to use speed to convey his emotion and not just to show off.

Yngwie and his first two albums (Rising Force and Marching Out) were enormously influential to me. Not only did he have great technique, but he had some wonderful ideas on how to add classical motifs and progressions to a form of music that was getter staler by the minute. His third album (Trilogy) was decent but by the time he recorded the fourth one he was fresh out of ideas and most subsequent releases were just rehashes of the same chord progressions and licks over and over again...

To sort of respond to what NxtVanHalen said, I would have to agree about Tony MacAlpine. People like MacAlpine, Vinnie Moore, and even Paul Gilbert may have "stolen" Yngwie's playing style at first, but they built on it and truly created some unique tunes, whereas Yngwie seemingly played the same neo-classical structures ad nasuem.

I saw Malmsteen open up for AC/DC back in the 80s when he was just breakin into the scene. It was the perfect time for a beer piss run!

ROTLFMAO!!! That is some seriously funny shit! "You've unleashed the fooking fury!" BWAAAHAAHAAHAAA!!! I also liked the guy who busted on him for being a "fat fuck in a poofy shirt"... classic!

"The Swedish Fooking Fury" made one outstanding record followed by an endless string of bad Rainbow plagiarisms. I totally agree that guys like Tony MacAlpine, Paul Gilbert and Vinnie Moore took the ball that good ol' Yngwie J. dropped and ran in a much more musical direction with it, adding much-needed melodic sensibility and superior song crafting skills to all become much better musicians than Yngwie will ever be. It's a damn shame, too... YM's got God's own chops and no clue how to make good music with them anymore.

Oh yeah, Yngwie... brutha... if you're out there... for the love of God, man, either mix in a salad and a few dozen situps a day or choose not to wear the same skin-tight leather pants you've been wearing since 1985, 18 years and 100 lbs ago.

You've become Meatloaf with a Strat...
