Is that the ones on VH 1? I saw that on a Stones message board yesterday and I didn't see any Van Halen on the list at all.

On the VH 1 website under those 100 albums/songs/ artists section there's a picture of Kevin Bacon and you can see a guitar in the background that is striped. The headstock of it appears to be one of the Kramer striped ones.

    That's fucked up.

Needless to say, I think the parent company (coughMTVcough) is filtering its influence down on VH1.

To ignore one of the greatest rock bands of all time, as VH1 has done, obviously was a severe oversight on their part.

Doesn't it piss you off when you're scanning down the list and you see "Van Morrison"!! I always think its Van Halen. Dammit!!

I would have thought that 1984 would be a shoe-in. You can't trust these things though. I don't think Bob Dylan deserved that many mentions either. He was good but I wouldn't consider many of his albums worthy of a top ten ranking. VH definately was overlooked here.

I was going through some of my old VH paraphernalia, and I came across the following: "The 200 Greatest Albums of All Time." The list was put together by KLOS 95.5 FM here in Los Angeles back in 1980 as voted by listeners of that radio station. Here were the top 10 albums, in order:

    (1) The Who - "Who's Next"
    (2) Pink Floyd - "The Wall"
    (3) Led Zeppelin - "Physical Graffiti"
    (4) Van Halen - "Van Halen"
    (5) Pink Floyd - "Dark Side Of The Moon"
    (6) Led Zeppelin - "Led Zeppelin IV"
    (7) The Beatles - "Abbey Road"
    (8) Fleetwood Mac - "Rumours"
    (9) Supertramp - "Breakfast In America"
    (10) The Beatles - "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"

"Van Halen II" was voted #41 and "Women and Children First" was #133.

You know, I try not to judge other people and their preferences, but that list has albums that cannot be labeled rock-and-roll.

Madonna, Otis Reading, Aretha Franklin, Miles Davis????

Cmon VH1 give us a break. How can you have Van Halen on the top 100 artists of Rock and Roll show and not have an album by them?????
    Peace

that is one FUCKED UP list. four beatles albums, nirvana, the beach boys and bob dylan in the top 10?

i'm gonna fucking puke! i'll get killed for saying this, but the beatles for the most part are overrated ... just because they were the first doesn't make them the best (or even, in my opinion, good). and nirvana? i've got more talen in my pinky finger than those clowns. the only reason they're as popular as they are is because cobain put a gun in his mouth.

jesus, that list is seriously depressing (but not at all surprising, considering all the lists you've seen in the past year are all the same ... nothing but blow jobs of the beatles and nirvana.)

    I think it is outrageous.

Hell, even if I were NOT a Van Halen fan, at the very least I would include "Van Halen" on that list of 100 Greatest Rock Albums, simply for it's influence and huge contribution to rock and roll/heavy metal in the 80's and beyond!

I mean c'mon, that first album influenced a whole bunch of musicians (including me )

And funnier then that is VH I, 1984, and 5150 sold more copies then at least fifty of those listed artists ENTIRE career catalogs.
