EVERYONE SHOULD CHECK INTO SYSTEM OF A DOWN'S NEW CD 'STEAL THIS ALBUM'. IF YOU LIKE A GOOD FRONTMAN WITH A KICK ASS TRIO TO BOOT, GET THIS ALBUM.

OR YOU COULD KEEP LIVING IN THE PAST HOPING FOR A VH REUNION INSTEAD.

I love the "Toxicity" album.

I know this new one is just a bunch of outtakes, so I'm curious about if it's any good.

I hate System, I honestly can't stand any of this nu-matal crap!

I could listen to Van Halen a million times over and never get bored, where as if I listened to System once I'd be sleeping!

System of a Down are a very frustrating band for me. I hear a lot of things in their music that I really want to like, but their singer's so busy screaming indecipherably while choking on his own vomit that it totally ruins the whole listening experience. And of course, No Solos = Major Suckage .

I'd have to disagree with the lack of solos. If you ever listened to the album all the way, which I doubt, you would find many guitar solos...perhaps not as straightforward as Van Halen.

I didn't expect to many people to like System, considering their type of music is WAY different from Van Halen.

yeah, ya know, i like a select few songs system has put out...but after hearing both albums in their entirity, i think they are a mediocre band. there is no way i will spend money buying a cd full of rejects that weren't good enough to make the first album, which IMO wasn't that good anyway.
Gozer the Traveller will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldronaii the Traveller came as a very large and moving Torb. Then of course in the third reconciliation of the last of the Meketrex supplicants they chose a new form for him, that of a Sloar. Many Shubs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day I can tell you.

Toxicity is a cool song. Don't know much else about them, though. I'm trying very hard not to turn into my dad. I don't think that will be too difficult

System was good when they were an unsigned band here in LA. I used to go see them all the time. Their first album at least had shit on it that they played out for years and was good, the stuff on the second album sucks.

It's true that I've never listened to one of their albums all the way through. Usually I get so frustrated by the singing (more like screaming 3/4 of the time in my opinion), I either turn it off or skip to a new track.

I'd have to say after listening to the album a couple of times that it is fairly solid. Not as good as toxicity, but for 11 bucks at Target, not a bad deal.

Half the time I don't understand what the hell these guys are trying to say too, but it is kinda humorous in a way.

I dowload the "hits" off of Winmx.

I enjoy what I'm hearing.

Fuck guitar solos.......if you suck at solos don't even try.

I am a big fan of people with bad voices......Tom Petty....Billy Corgan.......so this guy is right up my alley........he's really weird.

Just snagged that Aerials tune........freakin' rocks!!!!!!!!
Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett

I'm 30 years old and I LOVE System. I think they are one of the most unique bands out there right now. The lead singers voice fits in very well with the aggressive music they play. And as a drummer myself, I am blown away by their drummer's playing.

As for their new album, it's not a bunch of rejects. They recorded something like 40 songs for Toxicity and picked the ones that fit together the best. These new songs are just as good as most of Toxicity. Would you call "House of Pain" a leftover? It sat on the shelf for almost 10 years.

And guitar solos? Man, cut your mullet and open your ears because the guitar solo is dead. Don't get me wrong, I like solos as much as the next guy, but the day of the hot shot guitar player taking center stage is over. Did the Beatles have guitar solos? A song doesn't have to have a solo in it. And there aren't a lot of guitarists out there right now who are even worthy of taking a solo.
"Life sucks...get a fucking helmet!" - Denis Leary<br /><br />"Here's how I come up with my song titles...say you write a song about a chandelier...the chandelier puts out light...the light is red...red is the color you're not supposed to wear around a bull...so you call the song "Cow". - Billy Corgan

SOAD rules!
I think the music is good, but what sets them apart is their lyrics.
They have chosen to address "outside" issues, like the Government's drug policy or frantic building of prisons. It is very different than other new bands who only focus on personnal issues (so-called "mad at dad" lyrics).
During their bridges they have some pretty cool ethnic/armenian stuff going on. Definitely as interesting as guitar solos.
