I have seen some other Dream Theater fans here as well. I am curious to see what the rest of you think of their newest album. I think it is their greatest departure to date but I think they have pulled it off. This group is the true definition of progressive rock today.

This album i believe is their best effort yet. The first disc is by far the most listenable. The second disc being 42 minutes in length is a masterpiece. The guitarand drums are incredible and the keyboards are much like Rick Wakeman during his early YES years. I love this album....5 stars!!!!
Well ain't life grand when you finally hit it, I'm always a sucker for a real good time, woke up in life to find i almost missed it,aint I glad that love is blind

Yeah... very good album.

Can't listen to it all the time tho... that band tends to make my ears bleed from time to time.

Sweet Jesus! The more I have listened to this in the past week, the more of a kickass album I see that this is! I picked up tickets to see 'em at the Warfield here in the city on 3/9. I can't wait!

I have had absolutely nothing in my CD player except this album since the 29th....freakin' amazing. Like 1fotd said, every listen brings out more things that you didn't notice before and the album gets better and better. Their most experimental to date and it has reached Images and Words status IMO. I'll be seein' them in Chicago on the 15th and 16th!

Hey lake of fire, what did you think of Scenes From a Memory? Personally, I thought that was better that Images and Words. This album though takes the cake out of all of them! These guys have really developed in the last three to four years as some of the best musicians out there in the music world today.

I thought Scenes from a Memory was incredible as well. I ranked it as just a smidgen below I&W. I guess I&W will always have a special almost untouchable place with me. When I first heard it back in '92, I was really into the grunge scene (yeah, I know...I was young, I was stupid ). When I first heard it, I had NEVER been blown away by a band like that before or since. That album completely changed my view on music and is the reason I play guitar (not very well, but, I play).
