Pearl Jam have announced dates for their first major North American tour in three years. The three-month, 48-date tour is scheduled to begin on April 1 at the Pepsi Center in Denver and is currently slated to run through a pair of dates at New York's Madison Square Garden on July 8-9, according to the group's spokesperson.

The band will warm up for the North American arena and amphitheater shows in support of their seventh studio album, November's Riot Act, with a string of February and March shows in Australia and Japan. Opening acts and additional dates for the North American shows will be announced shortly.

Pearl Jam released an unprecedented string of 72 live double-CD sets chronicling their 2000 world tour in support of Binaural. No official plans to repeat the "official bootlegs" have been announced to date, but at the time of Riot Act's release, drummer Matt Cameron said the group would like to try it again.

"I think the fans really dug it. They bought a lot of them," Cameron said of the series. "It was a high-concept thing that worked." The onslaught set a Billboard record at the time when five of the albums debuted on the charts in the same week

The question is not, "Does love exist?"
But when she leaves, where she goes?
I got the feelin' she don't know either
Wait like the wind, watch where she blows

Cool. June 5 at the SD Sports Arena. Maybe I'll actually go instead of working it.

Last time I had a chance to see them I passed it up, which was back in '95. The Ramones opened for them at the Sports Arena, and I've regretted it ever since. Just for the fact that never saw The Ramones.

Especially since the scalper in the Tower Records parking lot offered me 2 tix at $65 a piece.
"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."

I'm going to the Albany, Buffalo, Montreal, Nassau and 2 MSG shows!!! I love living in NY!

Fan club members get 2 tickets to as many shows as they want, and they are all in the first 20-30 rows!!! I sent my money out two days ago. Not sure when public tickets go on sale. This should really cut down on scalpers making shitloads of money for the good seats. PJ really loves their fans!!

Pearl Jam has unveiled details of the delivery method for the official "bootlegs" of its 2003 tour, which will kick off Feb. 8 in Brisbane, Australia. As first tipped here last fall, fans who pre-order shows from the band's Ten Club fan organization will first receive a secure Web link to download unmastered MP3 files a day after any given performance.

A mastered double-CD copy of the concert, complete with custom-designed packaging, will then arrive approximately 7-10 business days later. Although 72 complete shows from Pearl Jam's 2000 world tour were available from the Ten Club and in traditional retail outlets, for now, no retail sale information has been announced for the 2003 bootlegs.

Fans can begin pre-ordering the first 15 shows on the trek, up through a March 6 performance in Nagoya, Japan. Ten Club members will be the beneficiaries of a special $12.98 per show purchase price, or $194.70 for the first 15 shows. Non-members can purchase the shows for $14.98 each.

Band members say they were pleasantly surprised at the positive reaction to the 2000 tour bootlegs, 14 of which reached The Billboard 200. "Certainly putting out that many things at one time is a huge risk," guitarist Mike McCready tells Billboard.com. "But for people to get a chance to buy the show they went to, and for it to sound good too, that's huge." Adds bassist Jeff Ament, "It's good to throw a wrench in the way the record industry is run and do something different."

Pearl Jam will take a brief break following the Australia/Japan shows, and will kick off a 48-date North American tour April 1 in Denver.

Those fanclub shows are onsale now http://www.tenclub.net has a link to where you can order them. You might have to be a fanclub member though. It's definitely worth it. Only $15, and you get a Christmas single, newsletter, access to these bootlegs, and first pick at concert tickets!! This band rocks.

Pearl Jam has drafted Sleater-Kinney, Sparta, Idlewild, and the Buzzcocks as the support acts for its 2003 North American tour. Sleater-Kinney will support beginning with the April 1 Denver tour opener through April 18 in Nashville, with Sparta taking over from April 19 in Atlanta through May 3 in State College, Pa.

Idlewild opens from May 28 in Missoula, Mont., through June 19 in Cincinnati, followed by the Buzzcocks from June 21 in East Troy, Wis., through July 5 in Camden, N.J. Openers for the July 8-9 tour finale in New York have yet to be announced. Manager Kelly Curtis tells Billboard.com that before his sudden death last month, former Clash frontman Joe Strummer had agreed to open several dates on the tour with his band the Mescaleros.
