IMHO, Tommy Keene is the greatest power-pop singer/songwriter of the last 20 years.
He is releasing a live album this spring and a new album this fall.

Finally, he has a website! Woo-hoo!

    check it out... http://www.tommykeene.com

He even has a message board topic "Ask Tommy" and he'll respond to questions himself!! What a guy.

Never heard any of his music but the name sounds familiar.

He released a couple of albums on Geffen in the 80's. (They dropped him from the label the SAME DAY as his breakthrough album, "Based On Happy Times" was released.)

So he got no label support whatsoever.
He's put out a few more great discs in the 90's.

For The Replacements / Paul Westerburg fans, he was Paul's guitarist on his last tour.

There is a video on the site for "Turning On Blue", great song.

Tommy Stinson is playing in Guns N' Roses now. Did you get his Bash And Pop cd? I have been always curious as to how that cd sounded.

Yeah, my ex-roomate has it. I think it was called "Friday Night is Killing Me".

It has some decent songs on it, some forgetable. It was a great first effort for Tommy, but again, he had no support form the label to keep up that band so he went for greener pastures (G 'n R)
