Hello All, Bezek Here.

I have not been posting as of late because really van halen is a dead issue and has been for a long time.

As of late i have seen alot of Def Leppard bashing on these forums. I ask why???

Def Leppard are one of the few bands out there that are actually doing anything.

The new album X is out and yes even if its not the good old Def Leppard it is still DEF LEPPARD!!! I hear people bitching how this album sux, how van halen are a better band, how joe elliot talks shit, ya ya ya ya ya

But wait a second, what has van halen done since 1999?? let me see???????? FUCK ALL

Def Leppard has given its fans 2 albums, DVD's and concerts.Yes i am a Def Leppard fan as well and a feel that at least someone out there of the old school bands is giving a fuck about what people think!!!

But van halen???

You got a point Bezek. I think I heard the last minute of one of there new songs on the radio today. Sounds good, old school feel with new age sound.

Bezek, I used to be a huge Def Leppard fan and I really think they've hit rock-bottom with this new record. I actually felt nauseous after seeing their new video! If I were given the choice between Def Lep or even VanHalen to either release a shitty record or just call it quits, I'd prefer the latter. If you enjoyed their new record, to each their own. I still firmly believe that the band died with Steve Clark.

That new Leppard video belongs on the Country Music Network, not VH1 or MTV. Knowing how that band used to rock makes it all the more sad but I guess that's what they want. Seems they're out to get the Aerosmith/Britney crowd.

this band chases trends.
but they chase the wrong trends...

they shouldn't even chase ANY trend

Ok,
First, i love the music that Def Leppard has made. I thought that Euphoria was a step in the right direction again....but X is weak. You see, Def Leppard doesnt do things like putting out CDs, DVDs, etc because they're "doing it for the fans"....please. They do it for the $$. Why else would they change their sound so much? They want to fall into the categories of bands like Fuel, Nickleback, etc.....call it what you want, but it's lame. Going forward is a good thing...but blatantly trying to be something you're not, just to please the younger crowd is artistically sad....case in point:Metallica. They've made some attempts since the death of Steve Clark to stay true to themselves...but the truth is, he was obviously the main creative force in the writing of the music. How do you go from Foolin' to Now? I dont care to find out. And another sad point...they have a true killer guitarist in the band...Vivian Campbell. Whether it's the overinflated (and undfounded) ego of Phil Collen or the lack of interest by Vivian, his ability on the guitar hasnt been tapped since he first joined....what a waste. Sure, he gets a solo spot live...but c'mon...Collen couldnt play the lead to Rainbow in The Dark if you put a gun to his head! LOL Oh well...until they wise up, Def Lepp...RIP.
P.S. By the way....Even on Lepps best day and VH's worst day....NO COMPARISON, period. Thanks.

the difference between Foolin' and Now? Def Lep wrote Foolin'. they used outside writers for Now...i don't like the first five songs on X, and i'm undecided on the rest. oddly enough, the ones i dislike are the ones they used outside writers on...

I don't like Slang, Euphoria and X. Except for two or three songs on each album. So I have no problems with anyone bashing Def Leppard. They used to be one of my favorite bands, but they aren't anymore after those subpar albums.

I'm pretty sure I can "learn" to like some "alternative" Def Leppard material if it's at least half-good!

Cheese & Rice, I even have three GLORIA ESTEFAN songs in my MP3 collection! It's not like I'm merciless!

I've heard snowblowers churn out more catchy riffs than Phil Collen and Viv Campbell.

Ok, here is how I view the music of Def Leppard:

On Through the Night 8/10- A great rockin' start. It sounds something like Judas Priest. Not their best album, but it has some great songs.

High and Dry 10/10- This is their best album IMHO. Great songwriting and killer songs. It rocks hard, and isn't as radio friendly or poppy as their later work

Pyromania 9/10- This is where Def Leppard found their sound that they are most famous for. This is a more pop-sounding, polished album then "High and Dry."

Hysteria 10/10- A classic, next to AFD, this is the best rock album of the second half of the 1980s.

Adrenalize- 8/10- More polished and pop sounding then "Hysteria," still, its a good album. It would have been better had Steve Clarke been on it, but at least he go to contribute to some of the songs as a writer.

Retroactive-10/10- A great frigin' album, rocks top to bottom. This is DL's last great album imo

Slang- 7/10- Some good modern sounding songs, with the Leppard sound, but it ain't the same without Steve Clarke.

Euphoria- 7/10- A rehash of "Hysteria." Maybe if Steve Clarke had played on it it would have been better.

X- 6/10- Some ok songs, but overall it rocks as hard as Nelson or Aeroshit.

"Now"...SUCKS...plaind and simple...Vivian Campbell is being overshadowed as a guitarist BIG TIME...Phil Collin needs to shut up and play!
Joe Elliot needs to get his scream back.
Def Lepp is one of my fav bands...but I think this is another Slang album. Other writers????WHAT FOR? They've had ions to write tunes to theirs and our liking!!! What a waste!
Just go for it!
