    Default Triumph

I just came back from a trip to Best Buy and saw on the shelf a DVD that I'm interested in learning about
Triumph - A Night of Triumph Live (1989)

Can anybody tell me if it's worth the sticker price?

It got mixed reviews on Amazon.com.

I actually saw this tour and the one before it-Thunder Sevens and thought that the '86 tour was better than the "glitzy" 87 Sport Of Kings tour.

But any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Damn. I saw this thread and thought...."Yes!" Then I read on and saw that I had posted on this nearly 3 years ago! Sadly, still nothing in the works on the reunion front after doing some checking.
I saw that DVD also and it looked like it was just thrown out there for the sake of having a Triumph concert in another format. (I think I heard somebody bad-mouth this particular one when it was available on VHS.)

    FanHalen is that you?

Well I did more than look at it I actually took it home and now I may be having buyers remorse. I remember the King tour and it sucked (saw 'em at Glens Falls Arena, Glens Falls, NY) Saw the Thunder show at the montreal Forum and was blown away. So maybe I should return it while it's still unopened huh?

I totally dig Triumph. Not counting on seeing them together again. Emmet is such an amazing guitar player. I play a few of his pieces and always love the challenge. Petite Etude/Midsummer Nights Dream/Magic Power to name a few. Recently I saw a DVD of Triumph at the US Fest. Quality was lacking but content was great. Also had a bunch of stuff with Rik in his home studio. I would support anything pro-triumph.

Well I guess I'll keep it, it only cost a bit more than a 12-pack of Seirra Nevedas One reviewer at Amazon.com said that the sound quality was really good. I debated that while at BestBuy and thought that the US Festival was going to be limited in soundquality just due to the venue/festival environment.

Oh I forgot to mention, I wish either disc had "Blinding Light Show" on it.

These guys did truly rock back in the day, I owe a great thanks to a high school buddy that turned me on to them.

    It would be nice that since Triumph can do this;
    http://www.triumphmusic.com/US%20Fest/US%20Fest.htm

    Imagine.......

"Van Halen's 25th anniversary of the legendary US Festival DVD" VAN HALEN - vocalist David Lee Roth, bassist Mike Anthony, guitarist Eddie Van Halen and drummer Alex Van Halen -- was an integral part of what became known as the US Festival's "Heavy Metal Sunday" on May 29, 1983. The three-day US Festival, which was conceived and produced by Apple Computers co-founder Steve Wozniak, was held May 28-30, 1983, at Glen Helen Park in San Bernardino County, California, 60 miles southeast of Los Angeles. An estimated crowd of more than 500,000 people attended "Heavy Metal Sunday." In addition to Van Halen's explosive performance, the huge crowd also rocked to Triumph, Scorpions, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Motley Crue and Quiet Riot. "It was awesome. We just stood there and couldn't see the end of the crowd. We'd played sold-out stadium concerts before, but nothing like this," says Eddie.

"They flew us to the show by chopper and it was unbelievable how massive the site and the fans looked from the air. The DVD has lots of these incredible shots and working on this DVD and CD brought back all the great visual memories I have of the event," says David Lee Roth

The 'Live at the US Festival ' DVD has been remixed in 5.1 Surround Sound and features three audio options: DTS, 5.1 Dolby Digital and 2.0 Dolby Digital. Remixed in 5.1 Surround Sound and the 40-minute documentary "Inside the Rock & Roll Machine" which gives a behind-the-scenes look at VAN HALEN's legendary arena rock shows.

The 'Live at the US Festival ' CD has also been carefully remixed and mastered to properly capture VAN HALEN's electrifying performance. The band delivered the goods on its albums, but VAN HALEN was also known for its amazing concerts.

VAN HALEN gave its all to the fans, and, with a half a million rockers as witnesses, VAN HALEN once again delivered, this time on the world stage. The 'Live at the US Festival ' DVD and CD captures that and a whole lot more, while preserving one of the biggest and best-known rock festivals in history.

Weird.....saw this thread just as one of Rik solo tunes was playing on my PC here at work.

Wish I could have seen the band live, but I DID get to see Rik at the old Marquee Club in Westminster CA back in 91.

......I sat about 15 feet from the guy.

One of the best fuckin shows I've ever seen. It was a great club to go to for live bands....now it's a good place to go for titty shows I guess. It's a Hustler club now.

I bought the Triumph 1983 US Festival DVD. It is cool, I think it's the only live concert I have that is during the daytime.
Right Now you're reading my post!
