I experienced Thin Lizzy (2002) last night at the Ventura Theater, (Ventura Calif)...
    John Sykes is the Man
    Scott Gorham is God
Marco Mendoza is the other MAN
and Brother Tommy Aldridge...what can you say about f*ckin' Tommy Aldridge behind the kit?
    SIMPLY F*CKIN' AMAZING....
GO SEE THIS SHOW if it hits your area.
Sykes gave dedication of every note played to Phil and the fellerz were havin' a ball onsatge.
    Black Rose as the encore!!!!

Yeah but since there's no original members why do they use the name? People around here have called Dave's band a tribute band. This seems more like one. Who owns the rights to Thin Lizzy the name? I am familiar with most of those guys and do agree that they're all great musicians and the music is probably great.

Well, Scott Gorham is an original member from the Classic Line-up.

Wonder why Brian Downey won't play?

I'd say it would be a great show - its a dedication to Phil - them using the name doesn't bother me - their motives are not for money.

OK. So they're a "true" tribute band. Cool.

Basically at the end of Lizzy in '83 Phil and Scott could be looked upon as partners when they split...when they toured a couple of years ago for the first time since '83 it was John Sykes, Scott Gorham, Brian Downey, Darren Wharton, and Marco Mendoza filling in for Phil who had passed on in '86 (John sings)...minus Marco it would have been the same band from "Thunder and Lightnig" and "Life"...the touring band now has Brother Tommy Aldridge on drums due to Brian staying at home (I don't know if he doesn't like touring or has health issues) and Darren has another band in the U.K....

Well... even more reasons for Coverdale to get Sykes back into the Whitesnake fold then.....

Since Sykes said that Coverdale's management has already contacted Mendoza and Aldridge for the 2003 Whitesnake tour... why not simply get the whole current Thin Lizzy line-up as backing band for DC?!

Yes! DC should hire Scott Gorham too!
anyway, I saw Thin Lizzy in Dublin last year, and it was one of the best concerts I have seen for a while..It's amazing how Sykes can sing like Phil Lynott.

They'll be in Houston Sunday night playing at a very small club.Tix are only 15 bucks so I'm going.

I love classic Thin Lizzy but I don't know if it could be the same with out Phil.

    Anyone have a set list?
Do they play Cold Sweat or Cowboy Song?

Check the tracklist for the "One Night Only" cd that came out on CMC International/BMG in 2000...they did that list plus some surprises like "Killer on the Loose" and "Emerald"...
