O.K. I stole this idea from another board. If you bought something new, tell us about it. Do we have to get it, or does it suck.
First up, Dust for Life. Excellent. Kinda heavy, but not too much.7 and a half stars.
Fuel, new one. Another solid 8 stars. VVery good straight ahead rock album.

Who's Next is a great album. I highly recommend it!

OK seriously, the last CD I bought was The Kinks: Greatest Hits.

Of course it kicks ass. There's 2 Van Halen covers on the CD: "You Really Got Me" and "Where Have All The Good Times Gone!"

I just bought Rhapsody's "Dawn of Victory." If you like symphonic "king arthur metal." You'll love it. So....I guess I recomend it.

I bought my wife Huey Lewis' Greatest Hits for Christmas. I burned a CD with like 9 of the 16 tunes for myself. Pure Pop. When I'm in the mood there's nothing like jammin' "I need a new drug"

    Some CD's I bought recently:

    The Hellacopters - High Visibility
    The Hellacopters - Grande Rock

All I can say is CHECK THEM OUT!!
It kinda reminded me of old Van Halen...a lot of energy and absolutely ballad-free.
    Again: CHECK THEM OUT!!

    Slash's Snakepit - Ain't Life Grand

You want Guns'n'Roses with a better singer and more straight-forward? Here it is.

    Gotthard - Homerun

A lot of ballads...I like the older cd's better, but if you like melodic rock go with 'em. Their frontman Steve Lee is one of the best hard-rock vocalists ever.

If you want to listen to their early rocking days, search for "Gotthard - Come Together" on Napster. It's an awesome cover version of the Beatles song. And it's hard with a cool guitar solo.

I picked up "Soup" by Blind Melon the otha day...whoa,this cd is chalk full of great songs, especially "Skinned."

Hmmm...I also purchased a great blues cd,"You Gotta Move" by Mississippi Fred McDowell. Great slide playin' and intense vocals. Lowdown backporch mississippi gutbucket blooze here one time. Incl 2 tunes w/Eli Green and Fred jammin'--Eli is a Delta legend who learned a lot from Charley Patton. Also incl the origianal You Gotta Move that the Stones later covered.

The last CD I bought was Revenge by KISS. It's okay, not as good as I had expected though. I'd heard that this was a really ballsy album from the band, and I guess it is soundwise, but other than the singles, the rest of the tunes are just okay. There's some really terrible lyrics here, not that that's all that unusual from KISS. Bottom line, anytime you use the lyric "the bigger the cushion, the better the pushin'", it's probably time to head back to remedial lyric writing class.

    I bought a 3-pack of CD's for $26:
Kyuss: Blues for the Red Sun (Cool title)
    Kyuss: Welcome to Sky Valley
Kyuss: ...And the Circus Leaves Town

Good old fashioned sabbath-influenced stoner rock. The singer/guitarist from Queens of the Stone Age first band.

I just bought the Tool box set called Salival. It is very cool to own those videos now, but I was not particularily impressed with the live versions of songs on the CD. But ya gotta love Tool videos.

I also bought A Perfect Circle, "Mer De Noms" after months of debate. This is a much better CD than I thought it would be. The difference for me was going to their web site where lead singer Maynard provides the lyrics to each song and what each song is aboot. I am a big fan of Maynard James Keenan but sometimes his lyrics can be rather cryptic, so the guide to the album was much appreciated.

I thought the cushion line was from Spinal Tap's "Big Bottom"...ST=lyrical Bob Dylan jr.s.

Well I bought 'A Perfect Cirle', there only CD. It is AMAZING!
The singer is Maynard from Tool. It's a much 'softer' album than Tool, definitely excentuating the singers' voice. The whole CD is really good too, no fillers.

Just picked up "Been A Long Time" from SRV's former bandmates Double Trouble. After a couple listens, I'd give it a 7 out of 10. Guest appearances by Kenny Wayne, Jonny Lang, Susan Tedeschi, Jimmy Vaughan and others. It'll probably grow on me more over time. More "pop-oriented" blues stuff...Bummer is there's less than 50 minutes of music on there...
