Please, no all-live twofers...but half-n-halfs are OK (like 'Rattle And Hum'...)

Interesting topic but sometimes hard to qualify - especially in the CD aqe. Such as - the two Guns 'n F'n Roses Use Your Illusion CDs were also released as double albums on vinyl, and I'm sure there are many other single CDs that were double albums on vinyl, but hardly anybody bought the vinyl version. Rattle And Hum fits that mode for me - all my previous U2 stuff was bought on vinyl, but with Rattle And Hum it all became CDs (with the exception of the Rattle And Hum singles which weren't available as CDs at the time). It's hard for me to view that as a double-album, even though on vinyl it was. So I'm not going to count it for that reason (and because of the fact that I'm biased towards all things U2 anyway) and also am not going to count compilations, though it was not mentioned!

    Pink Floyd - The Wall
    The Beatles
toss-up between Fleetwood Mac Tusk and Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti - both have some stuff I love and some I don't

Actually, I recall that tie for third and replace it with The Clash London Calling!

    b007,

You raise a valid point. I'm going off of anything that was released on vinyl as a twofer...thus 'Rattle And Hum' clearly qualifies...

Also, I would think that a vote for any studio double is based on really digging at least half the songs in the total package. For example, I like a lot of stuff on 'Tommy' and 'The Beatles', but I'm less likely to sit through those entire twofers than any of those on my Top 3. Also, I feel stronger about a lot of the material on 'The Wall' than that on 'Physical Graffiti' (except "Kashmir"). But there are at least 2 or 3 tunes on 'The Wall' that I almost always skip through, something I almost never do with anything on either of 'Graffiti's' discs...

-MikeL, showing off that sharp wit of his.

"You may recognize some of these chemicals. Let's start with cyanide...The one the Aum Shinrikyo cult attempted to use to commit mass murder in a Tokyo subway in May 1995...The same cyanide produced routinely--1.4 million tons per year--for use in the production of plastics, adhesives, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and so on. It seems that those who put small amounts of cyanide in subways are terrorists. But those who produce it in mass quantities and contaminate broad reaches of soil, water, and air, killing countless living beings, are not terrorists, but rather capitalists, and are counted among the finest and most powerful people on the planet."
