    I ***love*** The Who!

About 3-4 months ago I bought a DVD called "The Who: Who's Next", and just watched it for the first time this afternoon. It's a documentary on the making of "Who's Next", and it also features interviews with the surviving members of the band and the producers who worked on the album at the time. It's a great DVD, full of impromptu in-studio and rare, never-before-seen footage. The whole thing clocks in at 61 minutes, and they packed this mofo with all kinds of shit. I don't own "Who's Next", but after seeing this feature I'm buying it as soon as our base gets it in. It even has Pete Townshend doing 2 in-studio acoustic version of "Pure and Easy" and "Won't Get Fooled Again", of which the latter just flat out rocks! It also contains quite a bit of footage of the late, great Keith Moon, which was my favorite part.

If you're a big Who fan, I *HIGHLY* recommend you add this to your DVD collection. If you're looking for it, here are some details to help you:

    "The Who-Who's Next"
    Distributor: Image Entertainment
    61 minutes in length
Featuring: "Behind Blue Eyes", "Won't Get Fooled Again", "Pure and Easy", "My Wife"

    ------------------
Girl: "How do you write women so well?"
Melvin: "I think of a man. And I take away reason and accountability!"
-Jack Nicholson, "As Good As It Gets"

The Who is great! "Who's Next" is one of my all-time favorites albums. The only problem I have is that they charge so fucking much for concert tickets. $125?! That's ridiculous.

Yup, I'm a big Who fan. I love the box set (surprise) they released a few years back. I even love the movie Tommy, though my wife hates it so much she refuses to ever watch it again.

Did anybody see the theatre production of Tommy a few years ago? I wasn't expecting much, but I was blown away.

Yep! I dig the Who too. They were my favorite band in High School, till I started listening to that band who covered Won't Get Fooled Again on their live album a lot more. Still a big Who fan though.

In their prime, nobody could beat the Who. But all of Pete Townshend's writing talent couldn't save them after Keith Moon's untimely death.

I agree 110%. Keith Moon would sit behind his kit, and just wail away. Looking at him, you wouldn't think he was actually playing the drums. He looked like a little kid having a spastic fit, just bashing away complete nonsense on a drumkit. Yet he made those drums come alive. His style was so unto itself, it's not even funny. There has never been anyone since who could even come close to his style of playing. And there never will be.
