Saw Sammy last night at the Cave Creek Music Festival. Even though it rained and his set was cut short when the guitar amps went out after getting wet........it still was a great show.

After one of the amps went out when they were playing "I can't drive 55", Sammy and the Waboritas just went along with it....first with just bass, drums and keyboards and then Sammy got out his acoustic and just played the song semi-acoustic. That was pretty cool.

Sammy sounded good. Played lots of new stuff. I think he only played one Van Halen song, "Top of the World".

Sammy did say he would come back to town and play a free show sometime in the summer.

From memory.....and I'm sure I am missing some songs here....but here is the setlist in no particular order:

    1013
    Serious JuJu
    Let Sally Drive
    Shaka Doobie
    Top of the World
    Rock Candy
    Only One Way to Rock
    Heavy Metal
    3 Lock Box
    Red
    Little White Lies
    I Can't Drive 55

All in all.....it was great seeing Sammy as usual. At least someone from Van Halen is doing something. If you haven't seen Sammy solo......check it out. It's just a big party. He has contest winners on stage the whole concert.....trying to recreate the Cabo Wabo Cantina vibe every night. Looked like the same stage setup as last year.

Anyway......cheers to Sammy for staying true and just going out there and having fun and playing music people want to hear.

Cool, rxman! I'm going to see a Sammy concert for the first time on the 27th in Portland, I can't wait! I hope he plays more Van Halen songs, though.

I can't wait to see him this Saturday (the 18th.) He always puts on a good show. He was downright on fire in the 80s!

Yeah......what are the odds of rain in sunny Arizona? It's been a strange couple of months weather wise here in old AZ.

Nice pic Ford. I always try to have at least one Chili Beer when I am in good old Cave Creek, usually when I'm chasing down a steak from The Satisfied Frog. Funny thing.......they didn't have the Chili Beer at the show.....at least none of the beer vendors I visited had it. What's up with that?

By the way.......for being only the 2nd year this event has been held, they had everything set up and running pretty smoothly. Very impressive. Tickets were a bit pricey for reserved seating....$80.00. The lawn (golf course) tickets were reduced down to $30.00 from $50.00 though, so that was cool.
