Anyone heard the new Aerosmith single "Jaded" ?

I think it kicks ass! Heard it last night on a local radio station and I love it!

Admittedly, it's not a heavy rocker, but it's not a cheesy ballad either. Kind of a different sound for Aerosmith too, yet still containing the classic Aerosmith swagger. I was impressed by it...

    Check it out!

I'm still undecided about this one. In fact, the last two Aerosmith tunes have me a bit puzzled. "Angel's Eye" from the Charlie's Angel sndtrk sounds like they're trying to be "real hard and agressive" and "Jaded" leaves me feeling a bit confused. I can't decide if they want to rock on this one or not. Mind you, I'm a BIG Aerosmith fan and would LOVE to hear their next effort, but to me they don't seem to have a focus on what they want to do.

"Don't Want To Miss A Thing pt. 2" or angry, angst-filled 50 year old rockers? That's the downside to a MONSTER hit to DWTMAT. The mainstream want another power ballad and the hardcore fans want a return to the old faithful style. BTW, I know it's not necessarily from "old-school" Aerosmith, but to this very day, PINK is STILL one of my all-time favorite songs!

I agree Cabo about Pink. A lot of people I know didn't care for that song, but I thought it was great!!! One of my favorite Aerosmith songs of all time.

Pink is up there with Rats In The Cellar, Adam's Apple, Get The Lead Out, Young Lust, Mama Kin, and Draw The Line.

Having said that, I disagree with you about Jaded. I think it's a damn well crafted, well thought out song. I think it's damn good.

What does everyone else think about Jaded?

Just d/l-ed it and listened to it. I think it's a pretty cool tune.

I was never an Aerosmith fan until recently, so I'm not one to feel like they've sold out the rock and roll dream. A good song is a good song, whether it's a rocker or a ballad or anywhere in between.

Anyone know who wrote Jaded? I think it's a good song. Is there a video for it yet?

Not sure Glenn. I'm assuming Tyler wrote it with the help of either Perry or Desmond Child, or possibly Richie Supa.

    I like it.

    Aerosmith no longer exists.

All that remains is AeroSHIT. The equivalent of a 50 something boyband. Yeah, they supposedly still play their instruments, but they don't write their songs and they continue to turn out this cheesy ass shit

I think Jaded is a good song... Definately is radio friendly to say the least. But if this is any indication of the new album, I think it will be a good one.

Steven's singing is the best it's been in a while. Remember now-a-days bands release the most radio friendly songs to radio. But for a radio friendly song it still rocks a whole lot more than others our there.

Also I hear a lot of other songs in it too. The "J-J-Jaded" from Jailbait... A little bit of Janie in it too.

One thing I am concerned with is all the song-doctoring. Why can't steven, joe, brad, joey and tom write their own songs? I have no problem with like richie supa helping out, but bringing in desmond child kinda sucks.

I agree Bostonian regarding all the "song doctoring"...

But if Richie Supa was involved, I have no problems. Richie is an old friend of the band and wrote one of my all time favorite Aerosmith songs: "Chip Away At The Stone" which was first released on the live album Aerosmith Live Bootleg, in the late 70's. The studio version of "Chip Away At The Stone" can be found on the album: Gems.

See I think, (despite it's very obcious radio friendly feel) Jaded is a damn good song. Certainly light years improvement over songs like "Amazed" and "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing"

    Just my Opinion though.............

It's interesting about your last post BC, because it was only Steven Tyler and Ritchie Supa who wrote Amazing. That's one of those MTV hit video songs that wasn't helped by the so called song doctors.

Personally, I love Amazing, and it's probably my favorite Aerosmith song. I love the message of it "with the blink of an eye, you finally see the light".

Anyway, like you said, it's all opinions about music, and that's cool.

Good point Glenn. I forgot that Richie helped out with "Amazing".

I remember Richie Supa was in prison or rehab for a while (I forget which) and when he got out, sobered up it was around the time when 'Smith was working on Get A Grip. That's when Stephen re-connected with Richie again and they wrote the song "Amazing"

Personally I like "Amazing" too. Sure I admit I got tired of Aerosmith pumping out so many ballads during that time period....But I thought "Amazing" was a great song!

A little trivia Glenn: Don Henley contributes backup vocals on "Amazing"

I should add that although I liked Amazing, I really think it sounded a bit too much like Cryin and Crazy.....
