Default What Canadian bands do you like to listen to?

April Wine, Jerry Mercer has these hhuge pipes and puts them to good use on the skins. Caught the band live at the Montral Forum in the mid-80s and they really were good.

Had tickets to see 'em at this tiny joint in Tempoe, AZ a couple of yeasrs ago but they never made it, bus broke down or somethin' like that

Cory Hart's lead guitarist was awesome, in the liner notes of his debut album it listed the name of the guitarist as Erik Clapton. It's not Slowhand is it? I remeber Hart opened for AW and surpringly the "Boy in a Box" was actually pretty good.

Then again it was the mid-80s
    CABOT
    U.S. PRIME
    GRADE A STAMPED
    GUARANTEED

It was kind of funny when I first heard about it being a Van Halen “reunion”

Well she's a solo artist and I doubt I need to name her

Yep, Skid Row is nothing without Bach, so add my vote here.

I also think Jonas is a decent band, but I don't have the full album, yet.

Currently I like the Barenaked Ladies. They are fun! There's one song that I really like and when I finally learned all the words, I realized that it is about masturbation! LOL "I'm the "me" in mongamy..."

I used to love Bryan Adams back in the 80s, but he is just SO sappy now. It's a sad, sad, thing. I also liked Glass Tiger back then.

I got into Our Lady Peace for a while, after they opened for Van Halen. I love the song "Naveed." I like how their drum sound is so prominent. Makes them easy to identify.

LowLife, another great old Canadian band loved in America was Triumph. My older brother had some Triumph records around the house.

I've never been a fan of the Hip. They are just a good, average bar band, and I need more than that from the bands I like.

I really like some of the indie scene bands in Canada, like Grand Theft Bus and The Jimmy Swift Band. And of course there's always Rush.

I made this topic 5 years ago! I remember making it though.

Kim Mitchell is the greatest Canadian band ever to me. My favorite new Canadian band is Thornley, they have a few cool songs. I also like Wide Mouth Mason a lot, I hope they make a new album soon.

I started out reading this thread and i saw that you dig wide mouthmason alot. I think they are cool to. I don't know if you know this but Gordie Johnson, the singer, guitar player, from BIG SUGAR, produced Wide Mouth MAson's last album.

Anyway I was at a Big Sugar Concert and for the Encore Gordie Brought out Shaun Verultte, the singer from WMM(last name?) and they played a couple tunes together and then had this KICK ASS guitar war for about 10 min. Both of these guys can play some mean guitar.

You should check out Big sugars cover of "Let it Ride". It kicks.

Then the kicker is i get to the end of this thread and then you say your new favorite canadian band is Thornley, and the whole time i reading this i'm wonderomg if anyone has heard of Thornley yet.

They are Bar far my favorite( new) Canadian band right now. They have been touring up here in the cold north pretty heavily and I've seen them twice in the last six months at 1000 person venues. Ian Thornley is an amazing song writer and singer.

Check out Big Wreck- The Pleasure and the Greed, A wicked album as well.

I was listening to Big Wreck and was pissed when they broke up, but now that we have thornley all is good!!

Nickelback (Dispite bad song writting, these guys have done good for themselves and put on an amazing live show)

Rush (I just never get sick of these guys.)

3 Days Grace (I got hooked on one of their songs that wasn't a single called "Wake Up" that the girlfriend introduced to me and I've seen them 3 times since then. Great live act. And, like Nickelback, despite some cheesy "pissed off only" lyrics, these guys are nice guys and down to earth and making it on their own.)

Big Sugar ("Brothers and Sisters are You Ready?") (Starting with Nicotina, these guys rock! I've seen them twice in concert and they blew me away everytime. A shame that they aren't doing it anymore.)

Grady (Gordie Johnsons (Big Sugar) new band) I saw these guys open for 3 Days Grace last month and man do these guys smoke. Same unique style of guitar playing from Johnson, and mixed in with Chris Layton's (Stevie Ray Vaughn/Double Trouble) ryhthm, it's all good. Solid blues band.
