    Civilian Is Its Name
Here's a follow-up to the Rage Against The Machine, Chris Cornell project. I heard that the band will be called Civilian and the record should be in stores in July. Rick Rubin is the producer. He's been involved with everyone from the Beastie Boys to Slayer to Johnny Cash to System Of A Down.

Supposedly, they'll be opening for the Chili Peppers later this Summer.

July? Damn. First it was supposed to be out this March, then May, now July.

Don't get me wrong, I think Rage and Cornell are great, but this album had better kick some serious ass because they've been delaying it so much.

Gee, a band loses a lead singer who is a HUGE part of their sound, and teams up with a well known singer from a different band. What do they do?

Change the name of the band name.

Geez... how hard is that, Eddie?

I think this will be pretty cool. RATM suffered from having a "one-trick-pony" for a lead singer. Ever listen to their cover of Springsteen's "The Ghost of Tom Joad"? He actually sung it and it sounded pretty good. He should've applied some singing instead of mostly rapping in some of their original material.

The band won't be political in nature. They are COMPLETELY different than RATM.

NEWS - Cornell/Rage Band Set For OzzFest
    03/19/2002

(3/19/02, 4 p.m. ET) -- While the group still has no official name nor release date for its debut album, the new band featuring former Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell and the three remaining members of Rage Against The Machine is confirmed for this year's OzzFest.

The Cornell/Rage project joins a list of previously announced acts that includes System Of A Down, Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society, Soil, Onesidezero, and, of course, tour namesake Ozzy Osbourne. Dates for the summer tour have yet to be announced.

While speculation has long surrounded the Rage/Cornell project, details still remain mostly unknown. However, it is possible that an album will be available by the time the band embarks upon the OzzFest dates. An Epic Records spokesperson tells LAUNCH that the label does not make it a practice of putting bands on the road without a release to support.
