21 Years ago today, Mark David Chapman gunned down one of Rock And Roll's greatest legends: John Lennon.

It's hard to believe it has been that long. I remember when I first heard the news that day, granted I was only 7 years old at the time, but I knew who he was and his importance. My mother was a huge Beatles fan and at an early age they were one of the first bands I really heard a lot of music from.....And now of course, George Harrison is gone.

Hopefully the 2 of them are up there in Heaven, jamming out a killer groove, with Jimi and Elvis.

Today let's take a moment to remember the man. John Lennon. R.I.P.

You know (no disrespect intended), I never really saw the draw or interest that pushed John Lennon into such a place of esteem over the other members of the band. I was always more of a Paul McCartney fan myself, if I had to choose sides.

I don't feel that John was held in higher esteem than the others. He was definitely more vocal in the early '70s, espousing his political views and all. I don't know how much you know about the Beatles and their post-Beatle days, but he and Paul had quite a battle going on for a while that manifested itself in songs and album covers and sniping in the press. But from 1975-1980, John was pretty much out of sight - staying at home baking bread and watching Sean grow. That's what made his murder all the more disturbing - he had just rediscovered the joy of making music, had one album out, was working on another and then...

I was watching Monday Night Football when Howard came on and told us. Just a sad day indeed.

Stuff: I myself am actually a HUGE Paul McCartney fan as well.... I am just expressing the fact that I can't believe it's been 21 years since Lennon was taken from this world.

At least Paul is still with us. I am a big, big Beatles fan and have much of the 4 repsective former members' solo efforts too.

I never really have been a big Beatles fan, but it does suck that only two of them are left.

Say, is it just me or does Ringo get the raw deal of the whole thing? I saw a quote not to long ago, it went something like, "John was the soul, George was the spirit, Paul was the heart, and Ringo was the drummer." WTF? That's all the nicer a comment you can make about the guy?
