So what do you all recommend?

I've got a few.

Aerosmith's autobiography, DLR's "Crazy From The Heat", Kiss' "Kiss and Sell" (written by their former accountant) and "The Dirt" from the Crue.

How about it? Anyone read the new Stones book I saw around Christmas time? How about the Led Zep books?

Anyone have a "must read" list out there?

I'm reading the new Stones book "Old Gods Almost Dead" right now, I'm about halfway through it. It's not bad, but if you've read a bunch of Stones books previously, there's really nothing new here. A few interesting pictures in it that I haven't seen before.

If you can find Frank Zappa's book, it's an interesting read; I would almost guarantee that DLR has read it, because CFTH has a flow and style to it that is very reminiscent of Franks' book.

There is a Jim Morrison book I just read recently that was great. I'm trying to find it so I can get the title and author. I'll let you know...
It wasn't by a band member or girlfriend but it was really insightful.

I actually really liked Marilyn Manson's autobiography.

I was stunned to find this book at about 500 or so pages retailed at $25, give or take a few bucks. Then, Moneybags $immon$ has a book considerably shorter retailing for a few bucks more.

I'd almost guarantee we won't see his book with a 25% off sticker for at least the next 8 months. It'll take that long for him to realize:

a. No one cares anymore
b. He can't sell any books for over $20
c. SOME money is better than NO money
d. The Reunion is truly over and...(see "c")

I've got the Gene Simmons book waiting for me at my local library. Geno got my money for the box set, but I'm not giving him my money for his book.

I don't know if this would count, but any Henry Rollins book is worth a read, especially "Do I Come Here Often?" Most of it is interviews, like with DLR and Jerry Lee Lewis, to name a couple.

The Van Halen Encyclopedia has a lot of interesting stuff in there, but keep in mind that it was written and published during the Van Danniels regime, so a lot of the "official accounts" in that book are anything but accurate.

Dave's book is a better perspective from someone who was actually THERE.

Dave's book is a blast FORD but you've got to admit it has a little DLR spin on it.
I'd love to see a biography from a true outside perspective.
That being said, I love CFTH.

David Lee Roth-Crazy From The Heat

Meatloaf-To Hell And Back

Fargo Rock City

Those were my favorites, I like Dave's book the best! Meatloaf's was very interesting as well. Fargo Rock City is cool, it's written by a guy who grew up and lived 80's Hard Rock!

Crazy From the Heat , obviously...
The Dirt by Motley Crue is a tour de force. It's unbelievably entertaining.
Rock N' Roll Babylon came out in the UK in the 70s more or less ruined my life when I was a young teen. Lots of sex, drugs and death. Nasty pictures.
Patti Smith's Complete is a beautiful book of poetry and pictures.
I'm With the Band by Miss Pamela Des Barres. Rock groupiedom at its finest.
And I Don't Want to Live This Life by Nancy Spungen's mom. Rock groupiedom at its worst.

The Rocker by Mark Putterford about the life of Phil Lynott, frontman and bass player of Thin Lizzy. A great read.
I read one about Ian Gillan from Deep Purple some time back, that was a good book, was getting interviewed whilst this bird was giving him a blow job, Ian put his pint of beer on the chicks head!
