POISON TO SAY FAREWELL IN 2004?:
Poison have been in the news a lot in recent times and I have a close contact who caught up with the band recently, gaining some insight into future plans.
First of all, Winger will take no further part in the tour - updates on that soon.
Bret Michael's solo album has been pushed back from it's planned October release to March, giving the singer time to work on some additional new songs and re-mix some of the existing ones.
The Poison European tour has been cancelled because the main promoter went bankrupt. Apparently the band could not afford to tour on the money being offered by the smaller promoters.
And the big news is that the band may skip touring in 2003, but will tour in 2004 as part of their 20th Anniversary Tour which will likely also be their farewell tour.
The band will celebrate their 20th Anniversary with a special record release that will include unreleased tracks, b-sides, new tracks etc...possibly in the form of a box set.

I think Poison may be calling it quits because their last CD bombed. "Hollyweird" could have been better, as the production is poor, but it was still cool.

20th Anniversay for Poison in 2004? How many albums did they put out so far? Gee, does that mean in 2009 they can be nominated for the Rock N Roll HOF?

Sorry but I'm just not a fan of this 'band'.

Just because I'm the originator of this thread doesn't mean I'm a fan. I'm proud to say that I've never owned any of their records!

I'm the minority here in saying that I actually like them. But, seeing them perform this one particular song off their new album on this tour was pathetic.

They played "their" new song, "Squeezebox", which is a remake of the original Who classic, and it was an obvious last ditch effort to hold on to whatever fame they might have left.

It reminded me of something Ed had said in an interview a few years ago about doing cover tunes on an album. He said that Ted Templeman and he had got into a heated discussion about recording other songs that weren't theirs, and Ted had laid it out to thim that if you record a cover tune, especially one that had been proven to be popular or a hit in the past, then by doing that you're already 1/2 way there.

Sorry, but that night Poison wasn't even 1/4 of the way there.
"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."

I'll take Poison any day over most of the shit that's popular today.
And I will admit that I have their Greatest Hits album!

I don't own any of their albums either, but last year I saw them with Dokken and Slaughter. Overall it was a good show. CC Deville had electrical tape over his nipples... Wonder if Ed called his lawyers...

I never was a fan of Poison's music, but they really put on a hell of a show when I saw them with Dokken, Slaughter, and (cough) Cinderella. I mean, how many bands nowadays run all over the stage and, at the end of the show, let all the girls in the front section join them?! It was quite a sight, even if the girls weren't exactly young. I'm 17 and I'd prefer watching them over POD and all that boring rock out there today. They were fun and that's all they should be remembered for. Not too many bands today know what fun is.

I find it curious that so many people here long for the old VH days of fun and no messages, just rock for rock's sake, and yet so many people loathe Poison.
