I can't believe it's been 20 years today that John Lennon was shot down by that piece of shit Mark David Chapman. I remember when it happened like it was yesterday...(And I was only 7 years old when it happend)

I just thought I would open this thread to just acknowledge this sad day in the history of recorded music...

RIP John. You were the best!

I brought all my Beatles CD's into work with me today...I may for go my usual staple of Van Halen music for some Beatles today...

God bless John, we miss you, I hope you're rocking your ass off up there in Heaven...

Good call BC. While I find some of the crass commercialization that's done in the name of John Lennon quite annoying, it's certainly sad that he went out like he did. He was a figure of undeniable importance in the history of rock and roll, and music in general. I'll definitely be putting on some Beatles tunes sometime today.

Hard to beleive it has been 20 years, I remember hearing when it happened, of course I was a youngster but still I knew this was a big deal.

I wonder how much more great music John would have given the world?

    This is a sad day.

Sad day indeed. Just a little side note to add.....I was at a DMB show on Thursday night and during the outro Dave was playing a solo and sang " Can't buy me love, love, love....all we need is love, love, love" then he pointed up to the sky. Very cool indeed.

I was 14, watching Monday Night Football when Howard Cossell made the anouncement. I still remember the shock I felt. My friend hadn't heard when I called him. He lost it and cried hysterically as he was a huge fan. The only time I was as shocked by a celebrity death was the great SRV. Then, I cried. Incidently, Dec. 8th is my wife's b-day so it is a day of celebration and remorse for me.
