I am considering getting a box set of the mighty Zeppelin and need some input from you music nuts.

I'm a huge Zep fan and love most of their work, so I want to get a box set to complete the collection. I'm considering getting either 'Zeppelin Box Set I' which has 4 discs, and 'Zeppelin Box Set II' with 2 discs. OR the 'Complete Led Zeppelin recordings'.

The first idea is 2 box set 'compilation' of their songs, not in original order. All together it is a COMPLETE catalogue of their releases.

The second is the 'complete' catalogue, with original artwork, etc..., also with ALL recordings.

My gripes are that the second is about (total) 40-50 dollars more, AND is on 10 discs (as opposed to 6).

Anybody have either (or all) of these, and which should I get? Thanks.

Might as well go for the big box, because if you buy one of the compilations, you'll just have to buy the others later.

I was crazy enough to buy all the Zeppelin CD's BEFORE the box sets were released, so I haven't bothered upgrading yet either.

I bought the Box set 1 and then the Box set 2... and I regret doing it that way.

I would of rather had each individual release on their own CD the way they were originaly intended. That way you know which songs come from which album.

Or an easier way to explain:

What would you rather have? Some compilation of VH tunes in no particular order, or each album on it's own disc the way it's meant to be heard. That way you can see how the band's songwriting and sound evolved each release. Not to mention liner notes, cover art, photos etc.

I hope you understand all that.

I bought the box set that has all of the studio albums. I actually bought it when I wasn't a very big Zeppelin fan. That box sells around here for usually around $200, which is more expensive than it would cost to buy the albums individually. One day I saw the box being sold for $50 because it had a hole drilled in it. Even though I wasn't a big fan, I couldn't pass up that price, and I'm glad I got it because now I'm a big fan. I'm not sure why that box set is so expensive around here though.

I bought the Best Of CD's and I was really happy with them, especially the Early Years. If you want to save money strungout buy them.

Except for the liner notes, cover art, photos etc. - if you have a 5 or more CD player, you get the best of both worlds if you buy the box set and box set II as you can either listen to a mix of tunes, or you can program each album (with the exception of The Song Remains The Same). Physical Graffiti is a bear because it's a double album and requires 5 out of the 6 disks, but it's still doable.

I've never bought any kind of Led Zeppelin box set, I'm just now trying to get Presence, In Through The Out Door, and Coda to complete the entire collection.

Thanks a lot guys! You've been a big help so far.

I guess I should have cleared it up a little more. The main time that I listen to cd's are in my car, where I HAVE a 6-disc changer. SO, by getting the 4-disc and then the 2-disc box sets would be IDEAL for a road trip, ya know, so I can listen to ALL Zep songs withough stopping for a bathroom break.

However, a good point is to be made for the ORIGINAL sequence of the tracks, and album artwork. BUT, 10 cd's is a bit much. Anyone know a big difference in the packaging, or the pictures/etc. included in the box sets?

I'm becoming a bigger Zep fan by the minute, just slowly discovering all their songs. I've always been a fan, but I only knew about 10 songs.

I have heard the 2 NEWEST best of cd's, but I want EVERYTHING. I've already made my own best of, and have worn that out beyond belief.

Keep the responses coming! I want everyone's opinion. THANKS!!!

(I"M not the one who is actually buying it....my girlfriend is asking me which one I want for christmas Ahhhh who says money can't buy you love?)
