Hello agents:
This is your mission if you decide to choose it. Describe in 2000 words or less Who has been the most consistent, influential, groundbraking, outstanding,t rendsetting, hitmaker band/group of the last 20 years 1981-2001.
If by any means you get in trouble tracing and choosing this task, abort the mission.
Godspeed and good luck.

Van Halen of course. They were consistent, influential, had several hits, and survived a lead singer change.

Well, U2 is going to be #1 on my list as well. They managed to make it through the whole 20+ years with all of their original members intact. They put on some massive shows with ZOO-TV and PopMart, both of which were released on video. They made a movie during the Joshua Tree which captured the emotion of some of their performances. They were one of the showstoppers at Live Aid and contributed to many different causes in this time. They had hits (The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby) and misses (Pop, though I like it), won awards (just recently even a Grammy for "Beautiful Day") and pretty much stayed out of trouble. They married models (Adam) and belly dancers (Edge), contributed to movies ("Batman Forever") had some great videos and never left us hanging for too long (in these days) without offering us something, whether it was an album, single or video. And Edge is a damn fine guitarist in his own right. And Bono has the showman thing down as well! Gotta give Larry and Adam the props too for keeping the beat, and for their "Mission: Impossible" theme. To sum it up - for me - U2 is the best group of the last 20 years. Period.

Geeezz!!Of course VAN HALEN have been a major part of the influence of rock music today, now and forever will be, but I said since 1981 to 2001, I mean afterVH struck a chord and ruled the world... Which other Band/Group deserve the honor of being as respectable as Eddie,Michael,Alex,Dave and Sammy.
Van Halenis Num.1 in my book, but I am a music fan, and there are too many bands out there that deserve some recognition.

So, we're talking bands that hit the scene after 1981, right?

2000 words is what, eight pages double spaced? Perhaps you meant 200?
