Thought I would add a few bands that may or may not be on release in America. Check them out.

High Rise - 'High Rise 2' from Japan, screaming guitars, vocals mixed back, cool band.
Shihad - 'Churn' from New Zealand. Industrial metal, cited as personal album of the year at the time by Ministry and Joe Satriani amongst others. Faith No More were fans as well as the drummer from Pantera.
Therapy? -'Troublegum'. Mad punks from Ireland, great live.
Powderfinger - 'Odyssey #5' Australian band, similar I guess to Live.
The Feelers - 'Communicate' or 'Supersystem' from New Zealand, Similar to Matchbox 20 but way better, should have been huge.
Gun - 'Swagger' From Scotland, FM staple hard rock.
Manic Street Preachers - 'Generation Terrorists' from Wales, thought they would be bigger than Guns'n'Roses... They were wrong!
Budgie - first 4 albums from early 70's, from Wales, similar to Black Sabbath, fuckin heavy riffs.
Armaggeddon - 'Armaggeddon' - England. Keith Relf's (ex Yardbird) last album before electrocuting himself.
The Angels - 'Evidence', from Australia, some classic songs, and you can't miss with having a nutter as a lead singer in Doc Neeson.

Just to name a few!!!

The best new rock band in the world that I have heard are called Alfonzetti. They aren't well known, I heard about them from
www.melodicrock.com

They are from Sweden, and i've seen a few of their songs on Winmix. I think they rock!

Now, the majority of the "Japanese rock bands" sucks, but there are few good ones.

X (or X Japan) - Had a good lead guitarist (who unfortunately commited suicide) It was rumoured that ex-Mr. Big bassist Billy Sheehan wanted to play for them

Loudness - They reached the US~!

Dir en grey - Bit of a Goth and a cross dresser But they can whip some kickass riffs

Here are some great Canadian bands that I don't believe made it big in the U.S....

Kim Mitchell, Gowan, Colin James, Honeymoon Suite, The Northern Pikes, Lee Aaron, Wide Mouth Mason.

I LOVE all of those bands!

Check out Freak Kitchen from Sweden. The guitar player will melt your ears. Wicked sense of humor and very talented. Sound samples can be found at freakkitchen.com I believe. Give 'em a try.

Nightwish is definitely worth checking out. I never before appreciated female metal singers but this is amazing package.

Soulwax from Belgium, 'MuchAgainstEveryonesAdvice' great live, very funny.
The Wannadies from Sweden 'Bagsy' me or 'Yeah'
Feeder from England 'Echo Park' - great rock album. I imagine this would go down well on FM radio in the U.S. 'Buck Rogers' the single is catchy as hell.
