After seeing that bogus list of the 50 Worst Solos, I came across this list for the 100 Best Guitarist of the Millennium. There's a couple I could disagree on but it's a pretty decent list.

100 Best Guitarist

The King (no, not Elvis) came in 6th.

LOL! Kurt Cobain is a better guitar player than Joe Satriani according to this list.

IMO Zakk Wylde should be on that list, along with John Sykes and Neal Schon!

And of course Eddie Van Halen should be No 1.

A decent list, although I would definitely quibble with the rankings. Just for fun, my top 10 picks, in order, would be:

1. EVH (best overall blend of technique, sound, and musicianship)
2. SRV
3. Jimmy Page
4. Eric Clapton
5. Joe Satriani
6. Jimi Hendrix
7. Eric Johnson
8. Randy Rhoads
9. Jeff Beck
10. The Edge (not for technique, but for the sound he achieves)

Eddie could have been a little bit higher but #6 is OK. Yeah, where the hell is Brian May? As usual Kurt Cobain is rated way too high. Blackmore, Knopfler, and Angus Younger were underrated IMO.

I don’t understand the Cobain thing. I liked Nirvana, I wasn’t crazy about them but I dug ‘em. But he was definitely overrated. He was a good songwriter but he lacked a lot of skills as a player.

I wasn’t too surprised about Knopfler, he’s an excellent guitarist but I don’t how influential he is. He could’ve been rated a little higher though.

My Mt. Rushmore………….

Ed
Jimi
Jimmy Page
Warren Haynes
Frank Zappa (so underrated)

The Blackmore one surprised me.

I agree about May. There was a few there that should’ve made it. Dickey Betts, Ted Nugent and Warren Haynes. Even the guys from Skynyrd should’ve made it. Oh well, you can’t make everybody happy.

Randy’s right around where I thought he would be, he could’ve been a little higher though. I was never crazy about Zakk, he’s good but there’s alot better out there.

I don’t get it. Cobain should’ve been nowhere near that list.

IMO Zakk Wylde should be on that list, along with John Sykes and Neal Schon!
I was never crazy about any of those guys. I liked Schon with Santana but not with Journey. Those 3 guys are good but they’ve never done anything for me. To each his own.

And of course Eddie Van Halen should be No 1.
Of course.
