For those of that are eager to hear some great new music and kick ass guitar, may I suggest you listen to this 24 year old guitar player.

I have been listening to this guy for the last few months now and my jaw hits the floor when this guy plays. He's a mix of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendirx, and Clapton. For those of you saying 'Yeah, right......", check him out. You will not be disappointed.

Anyone else on this board heard him play???

Yes I've given his stuff a listen in the store here in OZ and he is very impressive. People tell me his first albumn was more smoking than the new one I heard called "So its like that" Do you have both of his albums?

I totally forgot to recommend this guy to the folks here....I picked up his latest release a few months back, and while th CD was pretty good, what left me impressed was the live concert DVD that came with it....all for the price of one CD!

Joe's like many guitar slingers who IMHO are way better live than in a studio setting....and the DVD is proof of that. The CD is called "So It's Like That" He's also out touring right now with the likes of B.B. King, Johnnie Winter, and George Thorogood sharing the bill. Looks like he's in dannyboy's neck of the woods right now.....

He used to jam in a band called Bloodline that I saw a couple of times, back when Joe was probably 16-17 years old, and he can rip with the best.

Bloodline was the band that had Robby Krieger's son, Berry Oakley's son, Miles Davis's son, and at one time Sammy Hagar's son was in there too, but as I've posted before, those guys told me he liked the ballad a little too much for their taste and they parted ways.

Anyway, check out the Bloodline cd if you can find one, and you will dig it, I guarantee.
John 3:16, Can You Dig It?

People, the 6 wings of the Mighty Van Halen will fly again! Can You Dig It?

You gotta give more than you take! Can You Dig it?

And underneath the arch, it turned into a march,
and there He found a spark to set this fucker off!
Set it off, set it off now children, set if off!

We are down the road! I Can Dig It! Can You?

I'll definitely have to check the kid out.

While we're on a "Smokin' Joe" kick, IMHO, since Stevie's passing, the new KING of Texas Blues is Smokin' Joe Kubek, former Freddie King sideman and one of the baddest, hottest bluesmen alive. GREAT band, too.

For those who haven't been lucky enough to check him out yet, check out anything off his "Take Your Best Shot" CD, you'll be blown away.

    The real "Smokin' Joe"

    You're welcome!

Joe was in my neck of the woods last night - Cleveland, OH. Go see this guy if he comes to your town. The tickets are cheap and Joe played a full 2 hour set of the most unrbeleivable licks I have ever seen. He can play fast, slow, ridiculous 10 minute solo's - I am still blown away. It was a small hall/bar too - with only about 100 people. What a great, great time...

You would have thought the guy was playing a packed arena. Afterwards, he came to the bar and shot the shit with the fans - signed CD's, etc.. (What a concept - communicate with the fans!?!?!?!)

I really hopes he comes back to Cleveland this summer...do yourself a favor and check himout LIVE.

I now have a new favorite guitar player...

Saw this guy on Palladia last night and was impressed. He kicks ass. His John Henry album is good, and I'm listening to Black Rock now.

Yeah it's a shame more people don't know about him. Every time somebody flies the "John Mayer is awesome" flag I tell them to check out this guy.

Regarding albums I just listen to what my IPOD shuffles to. I guess Blues Deluxe is one of my favorites but I pretty much like all of them.

Joe's great! I remember watching him for the first time on like a PBS station where they were talking to him between songs. He was riffing and talking about playing slide and "ghosting" It opened my eyes to watching slide players.

My good friend works at a local music store here where I live. Joe was playing a show that night at a smaller auditorium (Shryock) in Carbondale, IL. He said a guy came in to the store that day and just sat down playing thru these old vintage amps. He didn't know who it was but heard this guy is smokin the guitar. Turns out he was hearing Joe Bonamassa. He was playing thru this old Earth amp head. He (Joe) ask "how much you want for this head" He replied "500 bucks". He bought it on the spot. It has those big old school 6L6 tubes in it. I remember my friend showing me that head the week before and looking at how big the tubes were.

Bonamassa is one hell of a guitar player, I've been listening to him since 2006. I can't believe I hadn't heard about him before that. Here's the killer show he did on the Germany TV show Rockpalast when he was touring a three piece line up with Eric Czar on bass.

My favorite blues/rock guitar player. When anybody talks about John Mayer I politely let them know he can't even carry Joe's guitar case.

Very nice guy and to think he played with Sammy's son in Bloodline back in the day. Well before Sammy's son was fired from the band.

    Love Dust Bowl.

His last 3 albums are better than his early stuff. This guy is really hitting his prime right now... I've noticed that some have been critical of Tennessee Plates and Sweet Rowena because they're more countryish. But the entire CD is great IMO. Every last song.
