Ray Daniels really dropped the ball on the last Rush release and tour. Not only did Daniels drop the ball on promotion for Vapor Trails, he also booked the band for a second leg in markets they had already visited during a recession. Needless to say, average ticket sales of 15K per show on the summer tour dropped to 8,000 on the second leg. Daniels also failed to get backing for a european tour. Didn't Spammy talk about the same things happening during the Balance tour? Rush remains loyal to Mr. Daniels because he's been managing the band since he was 17. While the live show performed well, Vapor Trails has sold less than 300K to date.

In better Rush news, Vapor Trails Live Dvd will be released this spring.

    Looking forward to the DVD!

    edit:
Personally, I think part of the reason Vapor Trails hasn't sold well is because the recording sounds like shit - WAY too hot. Come to think of it, part of the reason III didn't sell well was because the recording sounded like shit.
    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Didn't all of the other Rush albums either go Gold or Platinum? This sucks. I really enjoyed that album. Can't wait to see the DVD.

to be fair, promotion is the record company's fault, but if RD feels the band isn't getting proper promotion, then he should step up and start breaking balls...

To those who think Ray's fucking Rush over--read Neil Peart's Ghost Rider book that came out a few months ago--Neil has a very different opinion of him, compared to us.

While Neil left his home for over a year, he had Ray help take care of his estate, sell a house, tend to some business matters in his absence.

And it's not exactly Ray's fault the economy isn't in the greatest shape--if they toured Europe, they'd probably lose $$$$$

Rush has its very loyal fanbase, but they've never been HUGE, either.

Rush is considered a Legacy act, and as such does not receive the same promotion as newer, more commercially viable acts.

I think Rush made a mistake by coming back to the same areas in less than 6 months. After seeing them in PA in August, I had no interest in seeing them again at MSG. It's a good show, but it ain't that good!

And say this much for Rush, they were pretty honest about why they cancelled the European tour.

Besides, Europe just hasn't been a big Rush supporter, at least since their '80s synth heyday.
"There's a Japanese term called wabi-sabi, not wasabi, but wabi-sabi. It means an appreciation for the imperfect, the less than precision. The cowboy boots that you never polish because it's bad luck. That is completely wabi-sabi. Van Halen is that." - DLR 2002<br /><br />"Look! I can see their parachutes! They're ok..." - Tenshinhan, DragonBall Z

Be hard to screw up one of the most over rated bands of all times. I saw these guys in concert and every song ran right into the next. Bored me to tears.
