His "hit" is OK......but it kinda ends there for me. For a real songwriter check out Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers

    Download "Beautiful Disaster".........he's the shit.

Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett

Can't say I'm a big fan of the guy, but an interesting fact I read about him is that he's quite an accomplished guitarist who names SRV as a big influence and tried going that route at one time in his music career before hitting it big with his style now. Would be great for him to turn on his newly acquired audience to his Stevie side......

I like John Mayer. I think his music is ALOT better then some of the other crap out there. There are some real bad bands/pop singers these days.

So I'm watching John Mayer play on Howard Sterns birthday bash, and he's ripping up "like a rolling stone", and the guys a great player.

And it reminds me that I've seen this side of him before, live performances where he jams with whomever, Clapton, Richards, Gill, and he's really good,

But then I'm reminded that all his songs largely make me throw up a little, and none of his CDs that I've listened to is ever this great bluesy guitar stuff that he clearly excels at, but for whatever reason he doesn't record.

He's a tool. His playing is fine but certainly nothing that hasn't been done a billion times by better players.

His last few albums have been letdowns, but his trio stuff is top notch. Seriously, check out the Trio's set on the "Where The Light Is" live album. It's killer.

Maybe I am way off, but women think he's good looking. If he looked like Lemmy no one would give a shit about him.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

I'm not a fan. But I gave him an honest listen back around 2001-02. Had a couple of albums and a live DVD that I gave a lot of play to for about a year but it didn't stick. I thought he had some decent songs but I couldn't get past his "breathy" singing style in almost every song.

I'm not gonna say he sucks though because the guy does have a lot of talent. He can really play guitar. He has some sick skill on both acoustic and electric.

He did seem to change direction some time around 2003 and I think that hurt him. I could be wrong but I believe he turned off a good part of his fanbase because of it. I've totally lost touch with him now for almost a decade. No idea what he sounds like anymore.

Never been a fan of his playing. I mean he can play a bit but nothing close to the level of his accolades. He reminds me of Robert Cray or Jimmy Vaughn in teh 80's while Joe Bonamassa is SRV. It's that big of a gap.

He usually always gets blown off the stage when sharing the stage with another guitarist. I remember he did a Crossroads with Keith Urban and it was sad with the disparity of skill being displayed.

    Guy sure gets the ladies.
