Last night I was at The Rack, its a popular hangout for athletes and other stars here in Boston.
To make it as brief as possible, I was hanging out with a certain morning drive dj and we talked about the state of rock and roll these days.
We agreed that most of the bands today basically suck monkey's balls and the latest so-called guitar bands like LIFEHOUSE & THE CALLING are nothing more than 1 or 2 hit wonders that won't be on the radion come next year.
Anyways we got to talking about VH and I mentioned to him about the Ozzy & Van Halen discussions as well as the Sam & Dave tour.
He said that he heard that Sam & Dave still haven't finalized things as of yet because they are hopeful of bring VH into the mix but it doesn't look too good because he has heard from a close buddy in LA that Eddie is 90% certain that he is going with singer #4 this time.
When I asked if there were any name floating around he said the usual past rumored names keep floating around like Coverdale and Malloy. But then he said a name that has been asked hypothetically before here before. Ralph Saenz. He said that Dave is using the top VH tribute band in the country's giutarist and Eddie is leaning toward offering the gig to Ralph, at least for the time being to write NEW material with him and tour later on possibly as early as the fall 2002.

Just another rumor out there to fit into our brains people, if Eddie does go with singer #4, this might just as be the best choice to do it with.
I am not very familiar with Ralph's writing, is he any good? What songs has he writen?

I was gonna go there too last night!
But I took my 2 year old out to the mall to see the Easter Bunny. Then watched Training Day instead. What can I say, I'm a family man.

But if your talked to either Hillman or L.B. don't bet your house just yet. But Hillman is quite friendly with Paul Geary and Gary so he might know something, but I'm not so sure just how much if any contact Gary has with Eddie anymore.

Can't see Eddie going with a "Dave" tribute singer. This rumor has to be BS.

Ralph was given the singer slot in LA Guns a few years back, around '97 I believe. He quit after a few months for whatever reason and went back to the PUNKS gig.

How ridiculous would it be if DLR recruits Brian Young a.k.a. EVH from The Atomic Punks and EVH recruits Ralph Saenz a.k.a. DLR from The Atomic Punks? Leave it to Van Halen to give us Rock-and-Roll's version of Bob & Carol and Ted & Alice.

I honestly think Ed is stubborn enough to go with a 4th singer. He's the kind of guy that doesn't look in the rear view mirror and unfortunately Dave and Sam are long since behind him. We'll see. The thing is with the response that Gary and VH3 got it's going to take someone with a lot of balls to take on the VH gig. Coverdale has that type of ego but Saenz would probably tell Ed to go and get Roth back instead of a DLR immitator.

He might be a good imatator and that would be cool on the Roth material live, but does Ralph have his OWN style? Just because he acts like Dave with the Punks, is that his real identity.
Why wouldn't Ed want someone that can fill Dave's shoes live as well as create his own mystique in the same process.

Stupid thing fucked my post up! It was meant to say that there is no way Eddie would get a DLR imitator! I've got a better chance than Ralph of becoming #4!!!

Van Disaster IV would sell 100,000 copies at best and there's no way in hell even a mid-level label is touching that, let alone a major label.

Eddie thought tour attendance was poor on the VDIII tour, well you're looking at about 35% capacity for a fourth singer, all Eddie sheep who obviously don't care about the band.

Eddie might as well go solo and just call it an EVH solo album. At least be honest for once in your life, Ed.
