The one I have has a pretty darned good spread, complete with a whole lotta reinserted deleted scenes that you dont have to dig up yourself in the menu (and one particularly nipple-riffic sequence with that blonde little MP hottie PJ Soles!)

Little known fact.....

This flick had an entirely different cast and title when the script was written:

"Cheech And Chong Join The Army"

that DVD is great. The deleted scenes of Murray & Ramis going to south america are the weirdest shit i've ever seen. It's obvious why they were edited out but they are so outta place from the rest of the movie you wonder why they even shot them to begin with.

a classic fersure.

Like a lot of these old classics, the documentary that comes as an extra is one of the best parts.

That scene was most likely a remnant of the Cheech and Chong version of the script. Yeah....it felt more like I was watching a sub-par sequel to Stripes rather than Stripes itself.

Nice. I also loved the extras on Animal House with the behind the scenes stuff. I have the regular Stripes dvd but haven't gotten the latest release. Must remember to pick it up.

Stripes is a cinematic classic.

They filmed a lot of it around here in Louisville. Most of the basic training scenes are from nearby Ft. Knox.
I remember being a kid and witching them film scenes downtown.
Great movie!

'Stripes" was shot back when the Army wasn't so uptight. I mean I can't imagine the Army cooperating with that kind of script today, which is sad because I think "Stripes" was the best recruiting commercial of the 1980s.

It is still the most quoted movie in the active military today.

I have the special edition DVD, bought it a while back and it turns out my favorite line in the movie was improvised. The part of the movie where the guys are just getting off of the bus and Captain Stillman drops by to check on the men and then as he turns around he trips on something then tells his aide "Have that removed" and keeps on walking. I can't say how many times I've repeated that line over the years.

I love the old-school Army recruiting commercial that opens the movie too. Even in the late 70s, the Army wasn't trying to paint a rosie picture of soldiering , which is in sad contrast to the "Army Strong" add campain of today.
