SAN ANTONIO, Texas (AP) -- An Air Force staff sergeant who posed nude for Playboy magazine has been relieved of her duties while the military investigates, officials said Thursday.


In February's issue, hitting newsstands this week, Michelle Manhart is photographed in uniform yelling and holding weapons under the headline "Tough Love."


The following pages show her partially clothed, wearing her dog tags while working out, as well as completely nude.

"This staff sergeant's alleged action does not meet the high standards we expect of our airmen, nor does it comply with the Air Force's core values of integrity, service before self, and excellence in all we do," Oscar Balladares, spokesman for Lackland Air Force Base, said in a statement.

Manhart told Playboy that she considers herself as standing up for her rights.

"Of what I did, nothing is wrong, so I didn't anticipate anything, of course," Manhart, 30, told The Associated Press. "I didn't do anything wrong, so I didn't think it would be a major issue."


Manhart, who is married with two children, joined the Air Force in 1994, spending time in Kuwait in 2002. She trains airmen at Lackland.

1. She's Air Force, not Army.

2. The Air Force has a code of conduct that governs the behavior of it's personel.

3. The Air Force has a HUGE PROBLEM with rape within it's forward commands and sexual harrassment at the Air Force Academy. They've tried to keep this quiet and they've been aggressive in instituting policies to counter this.

4. The Air Force is full of hot women.

5. This Staff Sergeant just made life for those other women that much harder.

Short answer: she's either stupid or she wanted out.

Guys, look at it this way, what if the allowed Gays to serve openly. What if it turned into the Homophobic nightmare scenario? You've got your first sergeant grabbing your ass and whispering in your ear, you've got your squad leader giving you a fruitbowl. When you're up for leave or a promotion and all you need is a good FITREP, and your Captian pull down his pants and tells you that the promotion your family is depending on counts on how well you blow him. I don't need to ask how you would like it.

When my mom was a WAC, back in 1960, that kind of stuff was everyday ARMY crap she had to put up with. We've come a long way since then and this kind of thing doesn't help. Once she retired from the Air Force, then she could pose nude. The Air Force is probably the most liberal of the armed forces, but they still have rules.

Is posing for Playboy a SIN??? I understand I'm a guy and my views might be different regarding Playboy than others but I mean the woman is serving her country and just because she posed nude for a magazine she gets booted out?!?

Now by all means I do not agree with having and sending more troops in Iraq. So I am not saying its better that this beautiful, hot, sexy, ravishing, perfectly figured... oh sorry... woman is there than back home but if this is something she wanted to do, than let her do it.

There are far worse things that people could do than pose in Playboy in my opinion.

This stupid system should look at the fact that this woman has devoted much of her time to the military.... BUT NOW because they find out she posed in Playboy... YOUR GONE!!!
