I've created an account at freedrive, where we can upload MP3's/wav/wmf files.

You can give or take anything you like, just don't delete anything, I'll take care of that.

I don't have anything of my own to upload, so I uploaded a VH boot MP3 just to give you guys an idea of how it works.

We have 50megs of space so that should keep us going for a while.

This is based on the idea that guitar players are good guys, so if you take something, leave something.

I finally uploaded an MP3 for ya. One of my band's songs live, real old performance though, but the sound quality isn't too awful, the drums are real loud and the guitars are pretty muddy. But it's not too bad. Enjoy! I'll upload another one tonight with me actually soloing on it, this song doesn't really have one, and the little lead things is our singer playing them.

Wow you guys liked it?? Cool. Thought I was gonna get a laugh actually. That's a really old song and a really old show, I think our singer and drummer have been playing it for like 6 years or something. Yes it is an original Eddie, 95% of the stuff we play is original. But we've even thrown some VH in there live before. We're re-recording all of these songs for a CD so it will sound MUCH better musically and vocally when it's done properly. Well since you guys didn't chuckle too much, I'll throw some more up tonight.

Ok guys, I'm going to give you a big laugh. I'm going to put up an MP3 of an idea I had for an intro to a song. The only problem is after I got the idea on tape, I realized it was a complete rip off of the intro to Tooth and Nail by Dokken. The guitar playing is pretty sloppy, but hey it was just a demo at the time. Just goes to show you that I was influenced by EVH AND Jimmy Page. http://www.vhlinks.com/vhlforum/smilies/biggrin.gif Also, I'm having trouble with the downloading. For some reason I get an error that says download complete, but when I check it out, everything is just the title and no data. Anyone else have trouble with this thing?

Ok I put up another one, song called "Fade Away." Again, live recording pretty raw. All the leads are basically our singer except for the wah, the thing after the solo and that nutty thing at the end.

We're just a raw goofy band, but I kinda like that, I've already done the overly polished stuff, the songs with 50 time changes, 80 different parts. This band just likes to have fun, we play fairly simple grooves, but the energy of the band is the key for us.

Hainy - I need hours to download that damn song, gonna do it later tonight when the net is slower.

It sounds like place we're playing at is dead, but actually that was one our biggest draws 60 or 70 people there, which is why the video guy couldn't get in front of us to shoot, people were blocking him. Eddie - you seriously want the music and lyrics?? I'll tell ya the song is basically in E, and the chord structures are real simple, E, D and C basically. There are some octave chords in there and a couple weird switches. During the verses our singer just rides the E on his guitar, but I'm doing a weird pattern that's kinda hard to hear on that live recording because it's real muddy. Sometimes our singer doesn't play during the verses, you can probably hear what I'm doing better, so have a listen. But I'll put something together and e-mail it to ya, I'll get the lyrics from our singer, there are so many words thrown in there I forget them all. http://www.vhlinks.com/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif

Who did Big Machine??

I use real player. How com I can only play the ram files and not the mp3's. I'm told real player doesn't have the components needed to play the files. Anyone know why? Are you using a different mp3 player?

thanks eddie for your compliments...that loud harmonic im hittin is a pinch harmonic on the g string at the 2nd fret. i down stroke with my playing hand and when the harmonic sounds i bend up real hard with the fret hand ,then dive and shake the bar..once i figured out the pinch tehnique it came pretty easy to me..for the most part i do hit the strings and hammer and pull off pretty hard lol..and i started guitar with a tremelo so im pretty used to it...actually when i play a les paul or similar i always end up reaching for the whammy bar http://www.vhlinks.com/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif...hey i wanna say your playings exellent too..did you make your eruption wav with the 5150? my sound qualitys not to good cause i ran my metal zone straight into my sound card ,but ill get a mike soonhttp://www.vhlinks.com/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif

Thanks Eddie, you are very kind.

I have a question for you, when you played that 316 file, what type of effect did you put on you sound?

It doesn't sound like chorus, it's almost like you've got your signal split, with a dry side and a wet side that's pitch shifted down just a little bit.

I have this cool little effect that makes the 5150 sound exactly like your tone. I know it's hard to hear but it's on all of my rehersal files that I upload.

BTW, the chorus section to that Horizon tune, is a complete rip off of Queensryche's Walk In The Shadow, off of Rage For Order! Like Brown I didn't realize until after the fact!

Btw ... i have used my fender Stratocaster annyversary with a seymor duncan hot rails on the bridge ! That for first !
Then I have used the crunce cannel of my 5150 head with the resonance that give the nice bass tone on the song ! And finally I have added only a little reverb with a bit , but only a bit of dealy using an effect called "gammaverb" that don't cost a lot but works quite well at hig volumes too !

Till now I'm uploading a solo live of me in a concert of 1989 ... i was 19 at the age ! Hey guys. I've been listening to your tunes. Some good stuff on there. I'm waiting to download some of my own, but haven't been able to. It appears to be the mic. input on my crappy sound card. I'm getting a new sound card next week, which should take care of it, cause I found a program on tucows that allows me to change my wav. files into mps's. By the way, I forgot to mention something. Some of the guys on this post have emailed me with clubs in your area that cater to tributes. Those clubs have been contacted, and we're preparing a new promo package to send them as they requested, so it looks as though we'll be seeing some of you guys this summer if it works out. I'd really like to thank you guys for the info, it was great of you to take the time to contact me, and if you hear of us playing in your area make sure you come back and say hi. Because I'm in Canada, I haven't been able to meet any posters from the U.S., and I'm looking forward to it. Thanks again guys.

Well guys, I finally got my sound card on fri., and wanted to put something, anything on to see if the card worked.
I was in a hurry to try and upload a file to see if I could do it. I picked up another wolf on wed., and while I noodled around with it for a couple of minutes, I ran my four track. I didn't have my amp at home, and being the impatient little prick I am, I just went through a rockman with some reverb added. It's rough, cause I only did one pass and left it as is, and I know it kinda sucks, but I'll try to do some better stuff over the next week or two, with my own amp, and maybe I can talk the band into helping me out.
I'm really enjoying the stuff I've been listening to, and am happy I can finally add to it. Being a spectator all the time sucks.
A big thanks again to Homeunit for putting that site up for us.

Finally, I have uploaded my sloppy ass version of Panama. I know it took me long enough to do it, but I finally did it. One word of caution, you might want to get your tone controls ready because the eq is a little more bass heavy than I like. Hope you guys like it though.

Well since I live in an apartment I can't blast the old 5150 to record there, so I used a Rockman Soloist from 1987, and a Boss HM-2 distortion pedal. The Boss is only really used as a boost and I keep its distortion turned all the way down. I ran the Rockman into my Soundblaster Live card and added some echo and reverb. The drums and bass are from some midi file I hacked and removed the cheesy guitar part from. I'm working on Unchained next.

BS, just downloaded Panama. Great tone. Good job bud. Those Rockman's really come in handy, don't they.
Homeunit, I should have a couple of things by tomorrow sometime. I'll keep them small and download them as jpegs, or bmps, unless you'd rather have them in a diff. format.
I was hoping to have some music downloaded by now, but I'm just not happy with the stuff we're working on. The singer's on a break till the 15th. (singers' what can you, do. They're not really musicians anyway...lol)
I might have to wait, and download a couple of VH tunes by us, or work on something at home. I know, nobody gives a f#@k, but I thought I'd rant for a bit anyway.

Hey BS, how are you doing the midi file thing? Are you finding various VH ones out there and then editing them through some program to remove everything but the bass and drums? I'd like to do that too, but I'm not quite sure where to start.

Exactly Brett, I use Cakewalk to do that. I just go in and turn off the guitar and vocals, and then save it. The Unchained midi I have is one I found with the guitar removed already, but the guy didn't put any kind of count at the beginning so you'll know when to start. It's sequenced in something called WinJammer, and it kind of throws Cakewalk a curveball. If you play it with Windows Media player it sounds great, but load it into Cakewalk and the bass suddenly turns into a piano and it won't change no matter what instrument you change it to. It's pissing me off, because the drums are programmed really well and I would love to use it. Another bad thing about this is, there aren't a lot of QUALITY VH midis out there, so you're kind of limited on what you can use. Hell maybe I'll start doing Led Zep stuff instead, there's a ton of that. http://64.176.3.141/vhlforum/smilies/biggrin.gif

I downloaded 6.0, the demo version. It works fine, I was able to delete the guitar and vocals, but of course until I get a new soundcard, I can't plug my guitar into my computer. So I tried it on analog by recording the midi to cassette and running it on my 4-track. Sounded pretty lousy, got to get a new soundcard ASAP. http://64.176.3.141/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif
