Something just occured to me.....I wonder if Ed is pushing and plugging wolfie so much that people will believe that hes actually another Eddie Van Halen. The way I see it, its kinda like Sean Lennon, George Harrisons kid or Dweezil Zappa. Sure, they all had famous musician parents but I dont think that any of them raised them so high up on a pedistal that they tried to fool anyone with it.

I am kind of anxious to see what Wolfie can do as far as playing goes. Its obvious to most of us that he will never, ever be able to fill Mikes shoes or even mikes legacy in the band but I am just naturally curious to see what he can do and play. Theres nothing wrong with giving the kid a shot at it but I think he has alot to prove before he is ever truly accepted by VH Fans...even if he is eddies kid.

The bottom line is that you're affixing this standard for EVH that none of us is asking for because it's easier for you than to actually defend his individual actions. All we're asking for is commonsense from the guy and an occasional action on his part that looks like he actually appreciates making music for himself and for the fans. The fact is, EVH appears to be taking actions that don't please anybody completely, not even himself. The guy doesn't appear to enjoy doing what he does anymore. Forget about the cancer and the alcoholism, to me it's the fact that his "baby" (VHIII) tanked. For the first time he had complete control and it failed badly (though I'm actually not a VHIII hater despite agreeing that it's the weakest effort by the band).

Want a comparison?!? Just look at many other bands and you tell me that the fans of this band haven't had to put up with more bullshit than the fans of other bands. IMO, EVH is most to blame for this.

Lode...LOL. I think by the very nature of the band and this board, 'Eddie freaks' pretty much get a free pass into all forums. We all agree Eddie is the cornerstone of this group. Is there anyone who doesn't, other than a few delusional 'Tards? Are there really any Daveheads who think Dave was better with Vai than with Van Halen? Naaaaaaaah.

Well there's not much to report. This I will tell you, though: Leave the girls at home. My girlfriend and my buddy's (pregnant) wife didn't have very much fun. And we were both caught in that "am I allowed to go crazy and scream and hang out with my bud when the significant other is looking bored?" gray area. So we actually split a couple of songs before the end of their set. (I fucking hate leaving shows/parties early.)

I talked to Lance briefly before the show, and he was a little frustrated at the moment because those in charge of gear hadn't given him any indication as to where the 5150 heads were. No talk about Mike.

About halfway through the first set Ralph said: "Hey, I can't believe I didn't mention this sooner. Are you guys excited that David Lee Roth is back with Van Halen? I'll be buying tickets for the front row and going backstage!" There was no mentioned of Mike or Wolfgang. Unfortunately I wasn't able to talk with them later (or jam with them this time--dammit!).

As far as the show was concerned, they sounded great. It was looser than when I saw them in December, and they came out doing more "deep" stuff early on ("Romeo Delight," "Hear About It Later," "I'm The One," "Loss Of Control"). I liked that the same band in the same place doing the same songs just a couple of months since they were last there gave a different vibe and show than their previous visit. It made it worth it--again--to drive 45 minutes north of the Twin Cities into Whitetrashville. The moment I could have done without: a random, requested jam of "Sweet Child 'O Mine." Lance didn't look happy about having to play that one either.

Maybe it's because I'm just a few years older than Wolfie...maybe thats the reason why I find myself sticking up for this kid.

Seeing a thread called Wolfgang van Halen STINKS....pisses the fuck out of me that some people would turn on this kid... when if you asked people what their opinion of him was when he was young, they'd say... Brett I respect your stance on VH these days...and how you feel about Ed. You always speak honestly about your feelings about this band and how Ed has kind of fucked it up in the past. And everything you say I always say to myself, "I agree with that totally."

I'm willing to bet no one in the VH camp, past or present, including Mike, wants to see things go bad with Wolfgang. We want to see our favorite band do well, and I can tell you personally I don't want to see a teenage kid get his ass handed to him. There's a lot of fan pressure on him right now. I'm still skeptical but also hopeful. Number One I want to see Mike with VH minus all the bullshit (impossible now), but even without that I don't wish anything terrible for Van Halen.

As a Dad, I feel bad for the kid. Its not easy being a 15-16 year old either, just going to school, and to now have to replace a founding member in one of the top rock and roll bands on top of it.
