View Full Version : Whiskey 1977?
I have a Van Halen outtakes cassette from the Whiskey (1977). Has anyone ever heard these song before: Just What You Wanted, No More Waiting, Stop Trying, Bullet Head, Walk Away, In For The Kill, Young and Wild, Real Go Getter?
I've heard them all...some have turned up on different boots from different shows, and "Young And Wild" is on the pre-VH1 demo. I think "No More Waiting" is actually called "Show No Mercy," it's always mislabeled.

Stop Trying usually is called Down in Flames.
Walk Away is by the James Gang, In for the Kill is by Budgie.

I believe "Young and Wild" is a Venus and the Razorblades cover song(I think VH opened up for them in the mid or late 70's).
"Real Go Getter" is actually Dave on acoustic doing his own version of the Humble Pie classic,"79th and Sunset." I've heard a million sped up versions of this song, but the correct recording of it is on the boot,"That's All Folks." An awesome tune--Dave sounds so bluesy and cool.
"Young and Wild" reminds me of the Humans Being riff a lil' bit.

Loons - I'm almost 100% sure VH's "Young And Wild" is an original.

Brett--I've read that it is original and then I've read that it is a Venus and the Razorblades cover. I have no idea who Venus and the Razorblades are, though.
I hear a very lil' bit of the Humans Being riff in Young and Wild, though!

According to the VH Encyclopedia, Young and Wild is a Kim Fowley & Stephen Tetsch cover. Steven Tetsch was Venus of Venus and the Razorblades.
Nice work,Glenn--I always wondered if that was an original or cover! Damn, you got a lotta posts! Mad props to a serious Van Halen fan!
