So, which one's do you guys think are even better live? Some picks for me would be:

5150 (I'd guess most would agree with this one)

Love Walks In

Finish What Ya Started

When It's Love

Right Now

All of the songs they did off VH3 live, I thought were much better than the album versions.

"Right Now" That was sweet Live. That is one of the best songs I ever heard 'em do live.

"There's Only One Way to Rock" - Ed's awesome guitar playing.

And not too much by Dave. He was alot better in the studio. Even though I do enjoy his stuff live. Especaially Unchained. "Mean Street" was awesome live too.

Eagles Fly on the balance tour kicked major ass. The usual ending has Sammy just strumming chords but this version as seen on the Live in Toronto pay per view has the rest of the band launch into the remainder of the song. Eddie brings such a closure to that sing that never was present before. Definitly better live!!!

MikeKramer, I totally agree with you on the Eagles Fly thing. Eddie's electric playing on that song live is so moving, it's incredible. Beautiful song, which Eddie takes to an even higher level.

Love Walks in - studio version I don't like it at all, live version is a great ballad.

Usually songs start to sound better live because you've listened to theoriginal recording so many times it becomes stale.
Sometimes live shit can make you feel like your listening to new material because the tempo changes. "Poundcake" on RHRN is MUCH faster than on FUCK.
But, you guys are right. Almost every song sounds better live. VH has always been known as a live band.
Except for "How Many Say I". There's no saving that disaster.

All of the III album sounds better live in my opinion. I love the way the ended Without You with the Beatles vocalizing, very cool. Actually, I love the way Without You ends on the album too. Year to the Day sounds amazing live in particular. Any of the boots I've heard, Gary sounds great on YTTD.

The one that sticks out in my mind is
"Best of Both Worlds" I just always felt that it was more powerful live than on 5150.

Hey Crossing Over, "Me Wise Magic" has never been performed live.

Some of my favs live:

"Eagles Fly" (hate the song, but what Eddie does on the end of it live is magical)
"5150"
"Summer Nights"
"When It's Love"
"Unchained"
"Somebody Get Me A Doctor" (love the jam they did after the solo in the old days)

I think that most of their songs sound great live. VH can do something most bands can't, and that's go out on stage and play every song as good or better than the studio version. But to be more specific, here's a few I really enjoy:

Romeo Delight (the "I forgot the words" Diver Down tour version)
Unchained (3 tour version)
Mean Street (3 tour version)
When It's Love (I thought the band sounded better playing this on the 3 tour)
Somebody Get Me A Doctor (with the jam after the solo)
5150
Summer Nights
One I Want (hey, I thought the solo for this thing rocked during the tour)
In 'N Out
Pleasure Dome
Runaround (Balance tour)
Intruder
Hang 'Em High
Hear About It Later
Everybody Wants Some!!

Well, that's more than a few but you get the point!! http://208.50.7.95/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif
