As am I. Sam doing a couple of Chili Peppers tune's really intrigues me. I can totally see him doing Readymade from SA. Suck My Kiss( like someone here suggested) is another one that I can see Sam adding his flavor to. Sam's not Anthony so i'm sure he would change it up a bit.
Higher Ground though not a Peppers original, would be the one song I would want to hear done if I had my choice. My friends band does this song and they rock the shit out of it. Chickenfoot doing it......:headbang:

Fucking A right, bra!
It really can't.
I'm all for a Foot cover of Higher Ground ala Satch, hells yeah.
Playing the whole album song for song? Satch instrumentals? Mike finally in a real live band onstage the whole time (as opposed to guesting during Wabos gigs) ripping up the boom stick without the yoke of Ed Van Halen? Covers from RHCP, Van Halen, and Sam's solo career? All backed by Joe fucking Satriani?
Um, yes. Gimme. :bounce:
U2's stadium tour is bummin' me out...stadiums suck. This concert season's looking pretty dry. Couldn't get Springsteen tickets. Missed the Pretenders' mini tour. Already saw Acca Dacca last year.
Other than Eric Clapton at the Hollywood Bowl, all I got lined up this summer for certain attendance is Chickenfoot and Green Day.
I can't even remember the last time I looked forward to going out and purchasing music.
On a day when the Chinese Prime Minister says he's worried about getting his money back from the US, this is indeed good freakin' news!!!

Your response isn't so shocking...it's what you typically do on here...you resort to namecalling like you are back on a 3rd grade schoolyard. Sure, I'm a fan of VH and so are you. It's my opinion Chickenfoot will blow chunks. If I am wrong...I'll admit it and will buy it. I love satriani and chad smith is great. Sammy is done in my mind and MA will always be VH to me and this is a step down and hurts his legacy...(same for satriani) neither one of them need this VH compared stuff in their career. I bet MA doesnt need the money and neither does Sam....One thing I can bet on is...
If it does suck...you wont say boo about it.... :D

It's my opinion that you hope that Chickenfoot will blow chunks, not whether they will or not. To me and and about everyone else here you are a former "Rothard" who can't stand the thought of Sammy and Mike finding bliss outside the confines of VH. In this day and age, if they meet our expectations only about 3/4's of the way then I would be happy. Sad but true. Rock and roll is kind of hurting a little bit.

LOL, you'll never admit it, you already have agenda set in place BEFORE you even hear the thing. You let your bias cloud your assertions just like every other spud like you. Yes, anybody who plays with Sam hurts their legacy. Perfectly logical. No ridiculous playground side-taking there at all! Third grade indeed. Note that you were the first one in this thread who decided to tank on it based simply on your prior record of anti-Sammite stupidity. Original, you ain't.
One thing I never have trouble with, spud, is stretching the truth about what sucks. Sam's last couple albums pretty much sucked. VH 4's fake bass sucked. And people who make blanket generalizations before determining the actuality beforehand suck too. :)

"Bitten By the Wolf" does sound like one of those cool song titles from Sam, a la "Salvation on Sandhill" or the (unfortunately) unreleased "Out of the Ether."
With "Avenida Revolution" it seems like the second cool song title I've heard.
I'll tell you who's really showing some cojones here: the folks at Guitar World. Putting Mike and Sam on the cover may slightly upset one of their biggest backers, some Dutch guy, you may have heard of him... :D

But don't you know, that proves Sam's regressing as an artist. If his last two albums sucked, then Chickenfoot will turn out to be Chickenshit. That's just how the biz works, champ ;) :p

Because it is clear in his post he has made a predetermination to not like it with jaded and silly statements about it being a "step down" and "hurting his legacy" and Hagar is "done" and betting it will suck before even hearing it, but then saying he'll buy it if he's wrong.

Ok, another intelligent post by Van Squalen! Thanks for your 75 IQ post.
I've already heard some of chickenfoot on that trailer they had on their website...I wasnt impressed with that and I am guessing...not wishing...but guessing it will stink. AS I SAID...if it is good I will buy it. Did you read what I wrote? If it is good I will buy it. I'm not just going to jump for joy that some band of stars is going to be a classic or that I am going to go see them before hearing an album...that to me is a bunch of tards.
Ok, and why do you guys care so much about what my opinion is and to attack it? I am guessing it will suck. That's my guess and opinion. You dont know what is in my iPod or what I like. I have about every sammy album, every peppers album and every satriani album...so you would think i'd like the album but my opinion is the hype on this thing wont live up to it.
So, keep up the insults...it dont matter to me one bit.

I'll say one thing, due to chemistry, desire and organization ANYTHING Chickenfoot does will destroy what ever "Van Halen" does, and that doesn't even mean Chickenfoot will be that good. How's that for going out on a limb? I predict anything VH releases will crash and burn, and perhaps prove once and for all that they should have died in the early 2000's before Ed completely committed himself to destroying their legacy. I'm probably wrong here, but any new VH doesn't interest me in it's current form.
Some think new VH will be great, but no matter what it is, I don't really care. Chickenfoot on the other hand, I'll buy it to support it, and hopefully enjoy it. It's not the second coming of Led Zeppelin, and it may not be anywhere near as good we hope, but the tour will be kick ass if they cover all the material they'd like to, and the fact it's even happening is far more cause for excitement than anything the Van Halen Family featuring David Lee Roth does. I like using that name for them, in case nobody noticed the first time :)

hard to see how you get to that thought. Ed and Dave a proven great soingwriting combo. If they are eager to write (and that's another story) then I imagine what they come up with is bound to be at least pretty decent.
Sam, prior to this, hasn't written anything with Satch so it's much more of an unknown. You can have all the organization and desire in the world and it might not matter.

Eddie and Dave haven't written anything great in almost 30 years IMHO. I personally don't believe Eddie has the desire to write, so those two factors (the latter being contingent) alone give me no reason to believe they have any kind of an upper hand on Satch and Sam. Satch is in a band, so you know he's excited, and Sammy is playing with a virtuoso again, so he likely feels the same thing. I guess if you just look at the whole thing on the surface, it just appears far more likely that Satch and Hagar can put something better together. Your points are valid, I'm just not faithful in those two and I don't see any reason to be.

We'll judge on the results. One thing I can say for sure is I'm buying the new issue of Guitar World with The Foot, while I skipped all the previous EVH cover issues. I have all the old EVH GW covers, the ones released when EVH was making music not peddling gear (some of them signed by him).
We can't judge the music until we've heard it, but what we CAN say is that it seems that these guys are putting their best foot forward so far and doing things the way they should in terms of organization and image. It is a good omen and much better than what we got from the VH camp so far.

And there it is. Always a classic, never gets old. The anti-Sammites are the ones who know his catalogue the best.
Sammy sucks, but, hey, what a coinkydink, all too often his debasers own every piece of music he's ever put out. :)
"Oh, I had a friend who had a hairdresser whose son left one of Sam's crappy CDs in my car after a playdate, and I didn't have anything else in the stereo, so I played it, just for laughs."
"My older brother had VOA and Standing Hampton, I HAD to listen to them."
"Sure, I bought 5150 and OU812 just to check them out, that's when I realized Van Halen had turned into Journey."
LOL. Always the same excuses. Hacks.
I'm not just going to jump for joy that some band of stars is going to be a classic or that I am going to go see them before hearing an album...that to me is a bunch of tards.
That's funny, 'cause I'm sure you extended the same parameters to VH 4.
Or did you? :D

I haven't been to a concert in years. I'm not into the big arena thing, but seeing Satch and Michael Anthony play in a club setting would be really cool. I am looking forward to this. Should be a good night of entertainment.

This could turn out to be a cool summer. I can't wait to hear what these talented and grounded performers come up with, especially LIVE!

Sammy's a bit of a blow-hard so I took the news of him working with Satch and Chad Smith with a grain of salt (Planet US anyone?).
Besides "Standing Hampton" and a handful of other songs, I never really cared much for Sammy's output as a solo artist. IMO, he's only as good as the band he's in.
Judging by what I've seen and bits of what I've heard, Chickenfoot has alot of potential and might wind up being the best post-VH member project since "Eat Em And Smile".
Will it set the world on fire? Probably not.
Will it last beyond one album/tour? We'll see...

More accusations and assumptions...
I havent liked anything Sammy has done in years and also the same can be said for Eddie and Dave. Yes, I liked VH4...but I didnt buy nor have I ever cared about VH III
I'm not a devoted fan to anyone.
I'm just guessing this isnt going to "light up the sky" ;)
