OK, for those of you with Dave-era boots, what would you consider to be your top 5 cover songs performed by the band? No songs on can appear on a VH album. (You Really Got Me, Pretty Woman, etc.) Here’s my 5:

1) The Rover-This version rocks
2) Beer Drinkers and Hellraisers- Love the vocal tradeoffs between Dave & Mike
3) Heartbreak Hotel- Eddie’s solo smokes
4) La Grange
5) Summertime Blues

1. Very Superstitious
2. Rock & Roll Hoochie Koo
3. Walk This Way
4. Come Together

Basically, anything VH touches kick ass. I think there Led Zepp Jam at the end of the Cabo B'day bash rocks.

Whiskey A Go Go '77 Rocks. Most of the songs are good quality. I only have it on audio tape, but from the looks of it, the Merry Melodies Bootleg (4 CD) contains it. http://www.vhboots.com/unreleased.html

Right now I only have a tape player in my car or I would dub it for ya.

I didn't know that Van Halen ever covered Come Together. I think Sammy may have done it live solo or at Cabo w/o Van Halen, but I didn't know that Dave and the boys covered "Here come ole flattop..." I have that show on tape but like a Fool I recorded from a record at the wrong speed(too fast) but I plan on getting the gig on cd anyhoo. I know Van Rothin covered Twist and Shout. And Dave did "I've Just Seen A Face" live acoustic with EAS band. I know that Soundgarden did a sweet version of "Come Together" and "Helter Skelter." I really want to hear It's Your Thing by classic VH. From Afar is one of the worst songs ever waxed. VH III was dogshit.

So ya gotta rag on my screenname, eh? From Afar was my favorite song on 3, plus it is Internet Like, from afar.... like I can post to Australia. Oh Well. I didn't see Come Together on the Merrie Melodies collection, but I am almost positive I have it on audio tape somewhere, may just dig it up tonight. BTW, I have the Greensborough '81 tape in my car and it is cool Haven't listened to that in like 5 years. DLR: "Let's hear it for Alex's Drinking Problem!!" Crowd: loud applause. 15 minutes into it and they are not through with Everybody Wants Some yet... ahh, the DLR banter http://www.vhlinks.com/vhlforum/wink.gif

So From Afar,do you have Van Halen covering,"Come Together" on tape? How could they leave that off Merry Melodies? I was tryin' to figure out what tunes Mike Anthony sang the encores at some show in '88 so I went back to this thread. Apparently I was really disgusted about Van Cherone at the time, too.
How is Greensborough '81? I have Providence '81 and Cleveland '81 and they are incredible!!!!!!
Does anyone have Memphis '81 on video? How's that show?
