Is Magic Mountain still around, and if so where is it exactly? In the liner notes of Magic Mountain 1977 it says that the groups played in a concrete amphitheatre called the Good Times Theatre. Was this theatre indoors or outdoors? Is the theatre still there? Thanks.

I'm with you on the help Glenn. I had always thought Magic Mountain was part of Disney Land. I just figured it was an amphtheater at the park. Killer fucking boot though. Don't you like ATBL. What a version. Out.

I think that movie KISS made in 1978 ("KISS Meets The Phantom")was shot at Magic Mountain.

That's right, KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park was filmed at Magic Mountain. At least some of it was. I'd love to know it the amphitheatre appeared anywhere in that movie. This once again comfirms my belief that a comprehensive picture book on VH is long over-due.

I went to the official Magic Mountain site and they have a 3200 seat amphitheatre called the Golden Bear Theatre. Does anyone know if this is the same amphitheatre as when VH played there in 1977?

Hey Glenn, if you've ever seen the National Lampoons Vacation where they go to "Wally World", then you've seen Magic Mountain. They used Magic Mountain for the whole Wally World part of the movie. Just giving useless info bro http://216.71.70.54/vhlforum/smilies/biggrin.gif

Magic mountain is inbetweem Disneyland and Bakersfiled, CA. As soon as you pass Bakersfield their is a huge set of Hills called the Grapevine dividing Bakersfield from LA. In these hills lies Magic Mountain. I've passed by it many times while heading to LA, but have never actually been inside. It's a six flags theme park.

The city it is in is called Valencia, about 20 miles north of the San Fernando Valley. Magic Mountain is VERY VERY scary, and if you're ever thinking about coming to LA, DO NOT go there. When VH played there in the 70's it was a very cool place, families could go there, etc. 20 years later it is a complete gang hang-out, they are trying to clean the place up, by the place is just a mess. No one in their right mind goes there anymore and it's sad because they have some incredible roller coasters. There have been shootings and stabbings there, it's not a fun place at all. I haven't been there since high school, over 10 years ago and don't think I'll be going anytime soon.

Yep it was the setting for Wally World in "Vacation," but not that silly bridge that said "Wally World" on it that they drove under, I don't know where they got that from.

I also seem to recall that Magic Mountain was privately owned during the time when VH would have played there, Six Flags bought it in the early 80's I believe.

Yeah it's a mess, but they're trying to clean it up. With no success, but at least they're trying.
