I have something that has been buggin me since 1991 . What happened to this song ? Where did it go ? I would have rather heard Summer Nights instead of Panama . Atleast Sam would have sang Summer Nights better and not half ass like he did Panama . Summer Nights ruled , I think that would have pleased alot of fans to hear that song . A great Sammy era song. Almost a tradition to play when the weather breaks for the first time in the spring while able to ride in the car for the first time that year with the windows down.

Good call jetm, couldn't agree with you more. I love this tune. There is nothing like sittin back on a friday night, after a long week of work in the summer heat, and crackin' a nice cold one while cranking this tune. It snowed up here in the northeast last week so I am yearning for the days when I can do just that.

Well ya Sam half-assed it. I would have rather heard a HELLUVA lot more 5150 on RHRN and I don't know why more of it wasn't on it. What all from 5150 was on their... WCTBL, BOBW. And I don't remember, was Love Walks In? Anyway, the least they could have done was put 5150 on there.

Yep, no doubt about it. One of my favorite's off 5150. I especially loved the LWAN version. Ed's solo's in Summer Nights and 5150 (the song), were some of the best parts of that video, IMO. And yes, I also would have rather them done these two songs more on the tours that followed 5150, then some of the others they chose. Or at least, mixed it up a little. Although, I wouldn't trade them for the Dave-era tunes we finally got on the 3 tour! They were a most welcome change.

One of Van Hagar's best without question. Probably the worst thing about the RHRN live album was that it came off as "F.U.C.K. live plus Sammy singing a few Dave songs and his own solo stuff" as opposed to a more balanced document of Van Hagar live. True, this is what the F.U.C.K. tour sounded like, but when they went to make a live album, maybe they should have included the 86 and 88 tours as well for a better selection of songs in order to make a definitive Van Hagar live album. Summer Nights and 5150 definitely would have made it a better album.

Summer Nights was less played because of the need to switch guitars live. I do have the video and CD of the Tokyo 89 show as well as LWAN and enjoy them more than RHRN. Summer Nights and BOBW are 2 of my top Sammy Songs.

First time I ever saw that performed live was October 1988 in Syracuse NY at the Carrier Dome. That is a KICK ASS SONG. Perhaps my favorite song from the Hagar era Van Halen !!!

I agree with you, 5150 is the best song off that album. I really wonder why it does not have that appeal to hard core VH Fans. Summer nights is awesome as well. Homeunit is probably right. I think the song is difficult for ed to do live b/c of the guitar switch. Although,I'd like to wait have him switch and hear the song.
