Of course VH tops my list, some of my other influences are, in no certain order:
Rush
Billy Joel
Neil Young
The Police
Crosby Stills & Nash
Satch
Sort of an odd mix I know but I really enjoy good, versitile songwriters. I also like downloading old AM gold stuff from the 70's, please don't kick my ass I can't help it, it brings back memories from my childhood ;)

Anyway, yes - Rafferty is hot. He really likes the Hammond organ & his arranging skills are top notch. I have a beautiful BEST OF by him.

The Dude of Life/PhishI agree with you about Paul Simon!
I have been meaning to go down to Yonge street at the Masonic Temple - the stones are practicing there. According to the site STONESDOUG you can hear them from the street. I saw them live in '89 and spent mot of my childhood listening to their greatest hits...

Yesterday I downloaded Page and Plant doing Stairway accoustically on a Japanese TV program in 94. Even though I thought they would never do it again the truth is out there!

HEY! What about Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley! graemlins/drunk.gif :D graemlins/scared.gif
I like most of the ones mentioned above.
It surprises me that no one has metioned James Taylor. I'd definately put him in the top 5 popular song writers of all time. He's in the same league as Paul Simon and Jim Croce IMO.
