A lot of this might be covered in the VH Encyclopedia, but seeing as a lot of people probably don't have it (myself included), why not discuss the meanings of songs that are known out there http://www.vhlinks.com/vhlforum/smilies/biggrin.gif
I recall back when Balance was brand new Sammy saying that the lyrics to Don't Tell Me where his responce to hearing about the Kurt Cobain suicide... something along the lines of here's a guy that has everything but still killed himself, so don't tell me what love can do.
Anyone else remember this?

You're right, Kurt committing suicide inspired Sammy to write Don't Tell Me.
Which, to me, reinforces the idea that Balance was the Sammy-era 'dark' cd, b/c Crossing Over (b side to Can't Stop Lovin' You) was written by Eddie after one of his friends committed suicide. And, IMO, this song would have been a better song to include on Balance than Amsterdam.

The song In and Out off of FUCK is about the fact that it cost the same to be born in this country as it does to be buried.
I read this in an interview about the time the CD came out, Sammy said the title is not what everyone thinks it is, he said he read it cost the same to be born as it does to die, and how he thought that was wrong. That is where the line"Never met a man does'nt oew somebody something"came from, he says you can never be debt free, cause you always owe someone.

You know fellas, I'm 35 years old, have been a VH fanatic since the beginning, and have to say that "Unchained" is without a doubt my favorite song of all time... But I have to admit it right here and now, and don't slam me too bad, but I still to this day don't understand the lyrics to the main chorus of the song... "Change, nothing stays the same, Unchained, and ya hear the girl running, Change".... Are those the correct lyrics ?? And if they are, what the hell do they mean ?? Oh sure, I've been singing along for almost 20 years now since the album came out, but always with that question !!! Can someone please enlighten me so I can have some closure !!!! :)

It's "you hit the ground running" not hear the girl running. I'm not sure what the lyrics are about.

In n' Out was about his nephew killing himself by jumping out a window and he said that it's more expensive to be buried than to be brought in to the world.

Thanks Heat, I knew it was about the cost of dying and being born, but did not remember the entire interview, thanks.

In and Out was written after Sammy's cousin asked to borrow money from him to pay for his son's funeral. and Sammy couldn't believe how much it cost to be buried, its more than child birth.

Unchained is just an attitude song like jump or runnin' with the devil. The lyrics just reflect a state of mind. They don't literally 'mean' anything. IMHO
