The latest issue of Rolling Stone (w/ Hendrix on the cover) says that the whole DLR/Stern thing is a hoax and that the vice president of communications at Infinity broadcasting says no decision has been made for Stern's replacement. She say's, "We're talking to a number of people", while Roth's management remains silent.
Maybe Ed will replace Stern! That's it! That's why he was in NYC a couple of months ago! He was auditioning for his new DJ gig! Be honest, that's no dumber than any of the other conspiracy theories you read on here every day.
yep
there ya go
just a media power play for dave
makes ya wonder what could be down the road ;)
DAVID LEE ROTH Impersonator Fools Howard Stern Listeners; Stern Confirms Roth Will Replace Him In NYC - MelodicRock.com has issued the following report: DAVID LEE ROTH has been the subject of much speculation in regards to possibly replacing DJ Howard Stern on air next year. This in today from Stern himself, as featured on the radio industry new portal FMQB.com: David Lee Roth was on air for Howard Stern this morning, replacing the King Of All Media - or was he? An easily recognizable hoax to most industry insiders managed to dupe listeners, television outlet KYW-TV/Philadelphia and even one radio industry trade magazine (no, not FMQB) into thinking that the rumor of DLR replacing Stern had come to fruition this morning. The fake David Lee Roth was actually an impersonation by Billy Mira. Once the hoax was revealed on-air, Stern said, "I heard the news that David Lee Roth was taking over the show when I was on vacation. I thought it would be fun to imagine what that would be like." Stern then asked WXRK (K-Rock) GM Tom Chiusano about the validity of the rumor, to which he replied, "You know as much about it as I do." Later though, Stern revealed that he has inside information that Roth will actually be replacing him in New York City, and he also added that Loveline co-host Adam Corolla will be taking over at some of The Stern Show's west coast affiliates, including KLSX/Los Angeles. "I know it for a fact," said Stern, later in the program adding, "I've got confirmation on it."

Unfortunately for Dave, whoever follows Howard will fail miserably. Dave was great in Boston and would be a great dj. He wasn't "Diamond Dave", but a well informed world traveler, with interesting perspectives on the world. A conservative liberal. Which is what we need. Good luck to Dave.

I couldn't agree more, but I would be willing to bet that Dave is at least being considered for Howard's time slot as a DJ.

i dunno. i'm hearing the radio gig is legit.
Ray Luzier just joined the new band that the DeLeo brothers (STP) and Richard Patrick are forming...OK, one train of thought says why should Ray sit around and wait for Dave to feel like touring...but the other side says maybe Dave won't be needing a drummer for a while, so Ray was encouraged to take another gig. i'd believe that scenario before i believed there was an impending VH reunion.

It would be nice to hear: "Dave is presently recording with VH".

I've said from the beginning that this rumor is just bullshit, it's not going to happen. Figure the sources: CHAUNCY HAYDEN (under investigation for insider trading re. HOWARD'S departure to satellite) and HOWARD (trying to stir up shit before he leaves). I think this rumor is mutually convenient for all involved in that they keep their names involved in media speculation, but it ain't goin' to happen...
I do think ROTH does want a radio show, but I don't think he wants to be stuck filling four hours a morning following STERN, I think he actually wants a show not unlike "Little STEVEN's Underground Garage."

"There has been less speculation about a New York replacement, with several famous names like David Lee Roth considered unlikely. Hollander also has raised the possibility Infinity may reconsider the format of WXRK (92.3 FM), Stern's flagship station."
