alright, they had their day, their music was pretty cool way back when, and some of it still holds up, but today, right now, they are a COMPLETE JOKE. I saw them on VH1's 'Where are they Now', and I could NOT stop laughing. Have you seen Kevin Dubrow lately? HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH nice hair buddy. They were traveling around the country in a SMALL bus playing to like 50 people at a time, and they showed the group play at a nudist colony!! except it was all like old people, and old women with pot bellies. Dubrow said, "yeah it's great, we still play for all the ladies, except it's the same ones that came to our concerts in the early 80's, and they're just a little bit older and look a little different" HAHAHAHAH. Funny stuff, I'll shut up now. http://216.10.25.192/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif http://216.10.25.192/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif

80's comeback!!! Get the new Crue CD....fucking ROCK N ROLL EXTREME BABY

Quiet Riot broke up in 1979.

Without Randy Rhoads, they are useless.

Van HALEN is: Dave, Eddie, Mikey, Alex. Any questions?

Well, that's your opinion and your entitled to it. Keep in mind, it was without Rhoads that they broke into the mainstream. Were they cheeseball? Sort of, but Cum On Feel The Noize is one of the quintessential eighties song for many, myself included. There is nothing wrong with a being a little campy or cheesy. "Without him, they are useless" is a pretty strong statement.

Sorry. Can't stand Du Brow. Never could.

I believe he's the reason the original Quiet Riot didn't get signed in the 70's despite Randy's talent. I guess the guys at CBS/Sony in Japan thought Randy was enough to carry the band. Ozzy certainly did.

It's been speculated that the only reason Du Brow managed to get signed in 1982 was because he got Randy to commit to rejoining the band. Unfortunately, of course that didn't happen.

Do you own the Quiet Riot Rhoads years CD? I've seen it at Media Play but I've never bought it. Is it worth it?

From what i understand, Delores Rhoads didnt really want that music released because it was material that Randy didnt really like either. Not all of it, but some of it. I could be wrong. But i remember reading something to that affect.

Randy Rhoads was the major contributiong factor for Ozzy's solo success in the early 80s. Those two albums (blizzard of oz and diary of a madman) are by far the best material ozzy has put out. period.

Yeah, the Randy Rhoads years CD is definitely worth it! I can't stand Du Brow and I like it anyway, because it's Randy's earlier stuff. You can hear a lot of riffs in there that he refined later and used on the albums with Ozzy. It's a fucking waste that he died so young due to someone else's stupidity.

I'm hoping that someday the full 2 Quiet Riot albums w/Randy will finally be released in a box set with some unreleased material. Meanwhile I got a couple QR tracks on Napster that didn't make the compilation CD, plus a rare live cut with Ozzy ("You Said It All") that wasn't on either of his albums or the Tribute CD.

Man, I hated this fucking band, mostly cause of DuBrow. Never heard Randy w\them & i'm not really a fan of his either. Not shittin on his talent, just didn't like it! Anyways, wasn't their a VH\QR rivalry back in the early days? That alone makes me hate that fucking group.

i have alive and well. that cd kicks ass! the production by bob marlette is great. he captures the quiet riot sound just perfectly. too bad nobody would play any of the songs from that cd. they had some good rockin' radio friendly tracks there. oh well the masses are just plain missing out on a good cd. 3

Yeah there was. Both bands were playing the LA clubs in 1976-77. There was a serious competition to see who would get signed first. Both bands had exceptional guitarists. The edge that got VH signed was ..... Ah, you all know what I'm gonna say...

DAVID LEE FUCKING ROTH!!

To put this in proper perspective, look at it from a Twilight Zone point of view. It's 1977 again, only this time, David Lee Roth is leading Quiet Riot and Du Brow is the frontman for a band called Mammoth or Rat Salade (It's doubtful that Du Brow would have suggested the name Van Halen).

Who would you have signed??

Who would have headlined the US Festival, and who would have been the opener?

Would Eddie have joined Ozzy?

Interesting thoughts.....

FORD, I love your posts, and as usual you have good points. However, don't you think it's strange that there was such a competition between the two bands, since DuBrow praises Roth so much in the Metal Sludge interview, labeling him as the truly original frontman that all other would be judged up against? Just a thought http://216.10.25.192/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif

The very first time I ever got Columbia House cassettes, I got Metal Health. I remember liking it alot but I long ago got rid of it. Maybe I'll cruise a few of their tunes off of Napster. I have been meaning to check out some of the Quiet Riot material with Randy Rhoads; I've never heard any of it and I'm very interested in Randys' early work.
